Planet Hollywood Towers - Pros-Cons for midweek stay?

Hi All

couple mid 40's travelling to the US in April for 25 days.

Will drive to Vegas from LA for say 3 ngihts, probs 10-13 April

Have been b4, stayed at MGM but want a cetnral strip location.

Wanted a mid range price hotel but with good facilities!

We want decent pool ( if its pool weather) centre strip, shopping close, easy parking and all the good cafes and restuarants close. Haveing a semi contained room is appealing as we can launder our clothes that we have been carting around dirty for 2 weeks! lol

I had considered, Flamingo, Paris, Planet Hollywood Hotel, Ballys and Venetian

However, I am now stuck on PH Towers and it seems to tick all the boxes with a decent rate currently at $366 for 3 nights with an upgrade to a 1 bed suite.

Can you give me pros and cons. I know its connected to PH Hotel, probs like Signature at MGM? So I know you would need to walk through shops to get to strip, thats ok with me.

How easy is the parking, Ive read different stuff, does it have its own designated parking area?

Cheers and thanks all

I've booked PH! I love the kitchen, gotta have the good toast, yogurt, fruit, coffee breaky in the jammies, the non-smoking, attached to Miracle Mile, all the ABC's and liquor stores just down the road for wine and beer in the room, Walgreens for food, fridge for leftovers, great beds...ahhh. Signature has to go through MGM to get to the strip, MGM is too far south. You'll love being close to the Miracle Mile..no brainer!

I stayed there a year ago in a one bedroom and loved it.

As far as self parking goes, once you come off the elevators, you turn right and walk about a 100 ft and go out the doors to the parking deck. I've read that some people have issues with valet being full, but we had no problem with the self parking.

The clothes machine in the room is kind of odd...one machine both washes and dries your clothes. It's supposed to anyway, but it took forever for one pair of jeans.

PH Towers is not center strip or on Strip. They are wayyyyy back and off Harmon. As for pool, sure its better than Pho's but nothing compared to MGM. Have you considered Mirage? Upscale, remodeled rooms, nice pool and reasonably priced weekdays???

Mirage? well I did look at it, might look at it again :-)

Well I know PH Towers is set back from the hotel, but I would still consider it centre of the stip once you get through the hotel :-) That part doesnt worry me at all. Mirage I would consider futher south of the strip?

The idea of a one bed suite also appeals, we would have been travelling for 2 weeks prior so haveing a washing machine and some other facilites in the kitchen like coffee and microwave would be nice :-)

thanks gdagreat for that link :-)

Out of interest how long is the miracle mile shop walk from tower to strip? ie I dont mind having to pass all the shops whilst going back and to my room, hubby will probs cringe tho given I LOVE shopping!!

Did you have a car and find it easy to park?

Are you able to use the Planet Hollywood facilites or are they not in any way connected at all?

I really think Im going to go with this, it looks like it ticks all the boxes

Out of interest, anyone know which 1 bed suites offer the best views of the stip, ie the floor or room numbers?

cheers

You should book PH Towers!!! The TR's I've read and the photos/videos I've seen have convinced us to stay there on our next visit!!

We stayed ina 1 bed suite last November and it was a really good stay for us. The washer/dryer in the bathroom was a bonus although we didn't use it much.

You exit PH Towers via the Miracle Mile shops and can get out onto the street by either the side door which takes you onto Harmon just off the Strip or you can go through the shops then the casino and exit onto the Strip itself.

We upgraded to a high floor strip view when we got there and frankly I wouldn't bother. You can see the Eiffel Tower and a little glimpse of the Bellagio but it is in between buildings. I would go for a mountain view so I could watch the sun coming up and the planes going in and out of the airport if I stayed there again.

The self parking was fine but sometimes could be very full which meant we had to park on the upper floors and take the stairs down to the hotel. Not a biggie.
