Vegas March-May 2013

Hil all,

My first even post on here!

I was just wondering when the best time to book a 7 day trip to Vegas between March-May 2013 from London.

Were looking to get married out there and obviously wants to book asap. At the moment i can book up until the end of March 2013 on Virginholidays but the prices are so much more next March than they are for this March. I read a lot about people saying its cheaper to book in advance but from the research i have done on Vegas it seems to be cheaper to book later.

I have been told by Virgin and Travel city direct that April 2013 onwards will go on sale on Feb 19th this year. So I'm hoping next March may come down in price slightly then?

I was also told by a virgin travel agent that by booking that far in advance you are just 'reserving' the seat as the actual prices don't come out until 11 months in advance. Therefore the price of the total holiday could go up or down. If it goes up they will cover the difference and if it goes down they will knock it off the total package? is this true?

Also we want to direct flights preferbly with Virgin or BA

Some advice would be much appreciated.

:)

Hi

Wow, thats too far off for Las Vegas. virgin holidays a way overpriced. They charge the room fee per person, not per night.

Flights and hotels bought separate are 99 times out of 100 better value.

I booked my flights for this June only a week ago, so no rush at all on those. Prices have risen alot but look for anything around £600++ if you want non stop, but if you will do a 1 stop then you can think of paying around £450++

Watch prices on kayak they fluctuate all the time.

Hotels can and do have promos all the time, albiet around 3 months out from your travel dates. Check much closer to travel on smartervegas.

Hi Clive, thanks for your reply.

I see what you are saying but the problem i have is we would like to set a date for our wedding so we can tell friends/family who want to travel out with us.

We have a overall budget for 2 adults and 1 child aged 4 of around £2700 for flights and accommodation. We can book for end of March 2013 with Virgin and stay at Luxor for £2700 but this March you could stay at Bellagio?

Hi

I should have added, for the last 2 years (sometimes you never learn) I wanted BA flights end of May and they were at their cheapest the previous August. I thought they must come down and waited for the Christmas/New Year sale and they were dearer.

Hi

I know where I'd rather stay, no contest Bellagio every time.

You will get your flights, so set a date. If you can leave for your honeymoon say on a Tuesday to Thursday and return then the flight prices will be cheaper, no weekend supplement. Just don't worry about the hotel, it's the flight's that take all your money. A 4 year old in your room should be free.

When costing your stay alot but not all hotels will/do add a resort fee and all add tax.

Ok so its much cheaper to fly say Tuesday to Tuesday?

I know what you mean about getting flights but its nice to have it all booked (resists the temptation to spend any of the savings) :)

Also, would you say there is a 'cheaper' time of year to fly to Vegas?

Hi

Yes its cheaper till the end of March (except Easter dates) but thats because of the weather. Just like here weather in March is unpredictable. I have been a few times around easter and it has been cold and windy but also had sunbathing weather. To be more likely to get "good" weather, the nearer May the better. If pool weather is not an issue, go earlier, pricewise. On saying that in Las Vegas they have whats called March Madness which puts hotel prices sky high.

More experienced folks can verify, but I've heard that the week after Memorial Day in May (usually last week in May) is one of the cheapest of the year for hotel prices. Memorial Day weekend itself is much more expensive and busier. The weather is good by then, too.

Wouldn't stay at the luxor if I were you. Its getting very old and is kind of further up the strip. We have stayed at the Paris the last 3 years. (usually go the 1st week of May because of the terrific weather) Love the hotel and the perfect location. It's right smack in the middle of the Strip. I highly recommend it.
