Wynn vs Cosmopolitan

Was planning on staying in a terrace room with Bellagio fountain view at Cosmo but just found and amazing deal at Wynn. I think the Wynn may be nicer anyway?? Good pool is important. Will be taking my mom, thinking the Wynn might be a better atmosphere for her too? Any input is appreciated!

How old is your mother? The location of Cosmo might be a much better choice. They are both lovely resorts with decent pools (tho Wynn pool is long an narrow--I found it to be an odd design). But the Wynn is a LONG LONG walk to most of the strip, while Cosmo is right in the middle of the strip.

We stayed at Wynn 2 years ago; lovely, room not quite as nice as our Palace Deluxe Tower room at Caesars...but it was just such a trek to go anywhere, we won't stay again.

Now, if you are planning to mostly STAY at Wynn, guessing mom would like it fine.

Both are beautiful hotels.. Cosmo has a more fun atmosphere where Wynn is more relaxed. Wynn has a very nice pool area, not positive on Cosmo but because I think the hotel has a younger demographic it might be more party like than loungning. Really depends on what you are after from your hotel.

Forgive my non-coffee drinking ignorance, but why does the lack of coffee makers in the room send coffee drinkers into such hissy-fits? I'm a beer drinker and don't complain about the fact that I have to actually leave my room to go find a place to buy a beer. Whats with coffee drinkers who can't follow the same logic in going to one of the many Starbucks (or other coffee shops) to get your cup?

"But the Wynn is a LONG LONG walk to most of the strip, while Cosmo is right in the middle of the strip."

Wynn is a VERY SHORT walk to Palazzo/Venetian, TI & Mirage, and the Fashion Show Mall. The same walk from Cosmo will get you to Aria, PH, Bellagio or Monte Carlo. Neither hotel is isolated on an island.

If you stay at Wynn and want to visit Cosmopolitan it is almost as far if you stay at Cosmo and want to visit Wynn, lol. And both of them are a good walk to Mandalay Bay.

Kbunde likes to spend her time at many of the older smaller casinos in the middle of the strip. Many others prefer the nicer hotels around Wynn. Unless you have mobility problems you can easily walk from one area to the other.

Either way spending your time in a small area of a few blocks will greatly limit your Las Vegas expereiance. So if you intend to see most of it anyway, don't base your hotel decision on which part of the Strip your building rests.

BTW: The Strip is kind of like downtown or commercial areas in many cities. It started with a smaller area and grew. So most of the newer hotels were built north and south of the center. So with the exception of a small area north of Wynn, all of the older cheaper hotel/casinos are now in the MIDDLE of the Strip. Just like in many other cities. The good part about being in the middle is that you can walk to the better sections in either direction, lol.

There are plenty of good reasons to choose either one of these hotels over the other---but don't make location on the Strip one of them.

I agree.I wouldn't get caught up in location. If you're planning to explore the strip it doesn't matter where you stay. Some things are an easy walk and others you'll probably cab to.
