3 Days off the strip, where?

We are coming to LAS for 10-16th and want to spend 10-12th off the strip. Where should we go?

What are your views on places like

- Mt Charleston (weather in April?)

- Laughlin

- Lake Mead area

We would just like to do one of these perhaps in these 3Days?

Was planning to stay at the Golden Nugget these 3 Days before heading to Cosmo on the strip?

How does that sounds?

TIA.

Mt Charleston- 3 days is a long time there. There isnt much to do other than outdoorsy stuff.

Laughlin-Not my favorite place ut in April its nice because its right on the river. You can rent a boat or jet skis of take tours that are offered on the River. Other than that and a few casinos not much there.

Lake Mead-Unless you are camping there are no hotels right on LAke MEad, but there are some that are close. Unless you have a boat there isnt much to do there for 3 days.

What are your interests? You could stay in St George Utah which is the same distance as Laughlin and visit Zion, Bryce and Lake Powell.

Hi

I am a Laughlin lover. So different from Las Vegas, slow and laid back. No up market hotels though, we usually stay at the Golden Nugget. Go for a river view room or at least a courtyard.

From there you can take the boat to Lake Havasu City for the day or for only $10 you can take a trip to the Davis dam from the Riverside hotel.

You can also take a trip to Oatman from Laughlin and see an old west town with wild "burros" wandering the streets.

Goodbeer,

Where would you suggest? Maybe not 3 days we could do with less.. Idea is to explore off the strip.

Grand Canyon accounted for. :p

Clive,

Sounds really nice, I will explore that option, how far away is it from the airport and from the Strip?

A day trip possible? or at least a night over?

What about Downtown?

We loved the Red Rocks area if you are into hiking. It's beautiful, exotic (desert rock formations) and great for pix. Have a great trip!

Goodbeer has given you good info. With 3 days I suggest a trip up to Zion NP. Simply beautiful. Easy drive. Many hotel choices in Springdale and the Lodge in the park.

Another thought is Death Valley NP. Also an easy drive. Park is beautiful right now. Look at Furnace Creek for lodging.

That would be a great time for death valley. Easily a day or overnight trip.

Mt charleston will most likely still have snow.

Hi

Laughlin is 90 miles 90 mins from the strip. You could do the canyon and stay a night, then stay at Laughlin. Take a look on the Laughlin forum, see if it's for you. There are lots of options you can do in the time you have, as been suggested. Only you can make the choice.

BTW you can do Laughlin in a day but staying overnight at most attractions is the better/nicer option.

I agree with Norgetroll -- Death Valley. One night at Furnace Creek will give you two days for touring the desert.
