Had 4 nights comp at Bally’s in South Tower. Arrived at Casino around 11:00 am and was hoping a room would be ready. We had received the email a few days earlier asking if we wanted to upgrade to the North Tower for $10.00 per night. We wanted the North Tower but had always been upgraded at check in and decided we are going to Las Vegas to gamble so let’s start off the gambling before we leave. Check in had several people in line but there were several clerks working so the line moved fast. The lady who checked us in automatically put us in the North Tower on the Diamond Floor and the room was ready. Good start! We never asked for an upgrade it was just given. $40 ahead! Room was very nice and very clean and had this surprise! A coffee Maker.
No view of the fountains or the Eiffel Tower but not a bad view either
We got organized in the room and walked over to the new Walgreens (next to Planet Hollywood). Very large store and they sell liquor. Got some vodka, mixers, and goodies for the room.
Some of the highlights of food for the four days were: the Le Burger Brasserie in Paris, great hamburgers and sweet potato fries, JJ's Boulangerie (they have great sandwiches), we took them back to the room to relax and enjoy there with the vodka we had purchased earlier, Earl of Sandwich at Planet Hollywood (also good sandwiches and reasonably priced.) Jean Philippe Patisserie for pastries and desserts, they also have sandwiches, salads, etc, and Le Provençal at Paris, had penne pasta in a pesto cream sauce, food was good, service was Ok. And of course Mon Ami Gabi, good soups, salads, entrees, and ambience, etc.
“The Rat Pack is Back” at Rio. Was able to get ½ tickets through a link at the Travelzoo website. We tipped the maitre d and were moved from general admission to VIP seating which gave us our own table. These guys are very good, have great voices and a live orchestra. They definitely sound like Frank, Dino, Sammy, & Joey. They do have the mannerisms down to a tee also. They were filming a History Channel segment on the Rat Pack so I would imagine they gave it their all. It was a lot of fun and a good show. Since the free shuttle left from Bally’s and dropped us off at the Rio it was very easy to get there and back to home base for us.
“Viva Elvis” at the Aria was the second show we saw. Also got tickets through the Travelzoo Winter special. We were in the front row of section 204. Perfect seats and were only $65 each plus tax, service changes, etc. The theater is beautiful with comfortable seats and an excellent sound system. The cast was talented in their singing, dance and Cirque du Soleil performances. It was a full house and everyone seemed to be enjoying the show. I don’t know why the so so reviews on this. It may not have some of the “ah” moments of Mystere or originality of Love, but it is a good, solid show and gosh we have to have Elvis in Las Vegas.
Well what can you say, slot machines on the strip. Up and down but had a lot of fun, got this nice win when I only had enough left in the machine for one more spin (that’s all wilds except for one symbol, sorry for the poor pic)
I visited the new Margaritaville Casino and found it larger than I expected it to be. It had a good vibe and good cocktail service, had fun there and got a lot of play.
Looking forward to the new Linq project around the Flamingo, it was all they talked about on the local news. Goodie another reason to revisit Las Vegas. Of course we stopped in O’Sheas to say goodbye, since it will be closing soon. (Looking pretty shabby in there).
We flew on Allegiant Air from central California. Plane was on time both ways. It is only a 50 minute ride and we got the air fare for $60 a person total. How can we go wrong with that plus our comp rooms. I will be back soon. I hope they get some new shows as I have been there quite a bit in the last few years and have seen most of them. I love Las Vegas!
Sorry my pictures didn't come through on my TR.
Thanks for the report. We will be stayed in Bally's north tower in 2 weeks. Oddly enough, your 2 shows are 2 of the shows I want to book for our trip, and most of the restaurants you mentioned are on this trip's list of restaurants as well!!
Nice TR. thanks for sharing.
Have a good time. We were in room 1823 (the one with the coffee maker, if that is important to you). Will look forward to your report. I do have to say everyone we dealt with at Bally's was very friendly, nice, & helpful and you can't beat the location!
I forgot to mention the Tequila Bar in Bally's for
■$2 Tequila Shots
Great place to have a snack and drink for little $.
Thanks. The Tequila Bar is on my list, too. I believe JessMe recommended it to me.
$2 Margaritas!!! I will have to try it out.
Great TR!! Reading it made me itch to go now.
Enjoyed your TR. Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for posting.
We might have passed each other in the walkway between Ballys and Paris, we were there at the same time ;)
Enjoyed your report and yeah, no pictures.
Which way did your room in the North Tower face?
