I usually go to Vegas with my wife. The trips involve lots of gambling and pool time. This one was more of a drinking/partying trip. I’m sure there are many details that have fled my brain already. I booked three comped nights at the Mirage from an offer they sent me accidentally. I didn’t even have to pay the resort fee.
This trip was myself and my closest friend, who will be referred to as Malcolm, mainly because that’s what he was calling himself. He’s single and I’m married. So we had slightly different objectives for the trip. It was an easy flight on JetBlue out of JFK and even arrived a bit early. Checked into Mirage. A $20 got us a volcano view a fridge and a bottle of champagne.
After a quick trip to Walgreens to pick up come supplies we headed over to the Forum shops as Mike Tyson was signing autographs there. We were able to see him, but couldn’t get any pictures as the security guards were keeping everyone moving, and being real jerks about it. One of them even made a point to try to block people’s cameras with his hand.
Had dinner at Holstein’s. Love their burgers but the place is too noisy for me. I actually think I can say that I officially do not like the vibe in the Cosmo. Something about it just doesn’t work for me. We Met Officer Jenkins from Vegas Strip walking up the strip. Not the rarest Vegas sighting, but I’m a big fan so I was happy to see him. Ended the night playing some blackjack at the Mirage. I usually only play switch, but Frank was there, and he is my absolute favorite dealer, and I hadn’t seen him in years.
I think this is going to be good. The shizo part reeled me in. Birds of a feather et al.
Regrettably I'm not the best story teller. But this was an unusual trip. I'll do my best.
sounds good so far. keep it coming.
BTW, i am heading to Vegas tomorrow.
Should be good.
You said drinking? I'm interested!
Here is day 2. I'm going to hold off on day 3 until tomorrow. I don't want to tell the tale of the booballoon without at least providing a visual, and the pictures aren't uploaded yet.
Breakfast at Denny’s, lunch at McDonalds and a walk up to the Strat and shopping for some gifts made up the bulk of the day. They were offering discounted tickets to Love right at the ticket booth, so we grabbed some seats for the 7PM show for $68 each. They were front row of the balcony, and ideal viewing seats in my opinion.
Malcolm had decided he wanted a new shirt for the evening, and headed out at 5:30 to get one. At 6:30 I called him to find out what the heck he was doing. He was finishing up at Macy’s. He got back to the room at 6:50 to find me in a panicked state. Apparently he thought the show was at 7:30. He got changed and we ran down. We got to our seats just as the show was beginning. Unfortunately there was already someone in our seats. Turned out they had tickets to the 9:30 show. Got that straightened out and sat down just in time.
Malcolm is a huge Beatles fan and the show blew him away. It was my second time seeing it, and while I enjoy it, it is far from my favorite. We grabbed some pizza afterwards and headed over to Gilleys, as I’ve been curious to check out the bikini bull riding. Sad to say there was not a bikini in sight. So we just hung out for a bit and drank heavily.
We then headed over to Encore where I had a nice run at the BJ switch table. When I located Malcolm in the piano bar he was engaged in a conversation with the lady at the table next to his. Only thing is he was speaking only using his 100% dead on Russell Brand imitation. He was also trying to out-sing the piano players and was managing to keep the whole room entertained. Now normally he is not the most self-confident guy. But with his English accent he had managed to take on a whole different persona.
After the piano players stopped for the evening we wandered on down the strip. And this new persona came along with us. I actually don’t think he even dropped the accent at all for the rest of the night. He was flirting with every girl we passed on the strip, call girl or otherwise. He refused to pay for a lady, but that didn’t stop him from trying to get a freebie. I thought he was completely kidding himself. But after a short BJ switch session at Bill’s I walk outside to see him making out with one. He wasn’t thrilled when I dragged him away, but I wanted no part of it. But he was still sure that it would have worked.
Our last stop for the night was the Revolution Lounge. We stayed for about 30 seconds after we realized that the dance floor was filled with guys grinding on each other and a smattering of transvestites. We sat down looked at the dance floor, looked at each other, said “wrong place” at the same time, and marched back out. With that I headed to bed, while Malcolm went back out to god knows where.
Seriously??? You're going to make us wait until tomorrow for the rest, LOL?
Enjoying it so far.......
