Hotel Recommendation

Ok, I've spent the last few days reading hotel review after hotel review and I'm confused as ever. I'm hoping you guys/gals can help point me in the right direction...

Planning a little surprise weekend trip to vegas for memorial day weekend with the girlfriend. My first time, she's been once, but it's been a while. We're 26-30. Hoping to see a show, eat a couple nice meals, do some gambling, see the sights, ect. (Typical Vegas weekend..)

Looking for (in this order):

1) Good Location

2) Decent casino with good drink service (doesn't have to be the fanciest casino as I'd prefer somewhere that I can find at least $10 minimum BJ at most hours)

3) 'Nice' rooms - doesn't have to be 5-star, but we're in vegas, I don't want to feel like I'm at a best western. A view would be a bonus.

Probably won't spend much(any) time at a pool, so that's not important.

thanks in advance!

Not knowing your budget I would suggest Mirage or the cosmopolitan

Since you ddin't post a budget...

The Cosmopolitan. It hits #1 and #3 bang on but is a little iffy on #2. The drink service is great but the table minimums are high. PH is right next door though with a good casino.

Cosmo also has the wow factor that I think you'll appreciate. Great restaurants and bars and the best views in the city from their rooms. It's pricey though, up there with the other top tier resorts.

If the price is out of your range then Planet Hollywood next door would also meet your requirements, same with Paris. Or a little farther north Treasure Island and Mirage all sort of fall into the same price level.

I don't want to scare you, but have you looked at rates?

If you stay Fri-Mon on Memorial Day weekend it will probably cost 3TIMES the price of staying Mon-Fri (yes an extra night).

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but we really need to know your hotel budget, and exact dates, before making recommendations for such an expensive period.

Oops, sorry about the budget.. should have known. I'd like to keep my nightly average around/under $200 (friday thru tuesday), but I can be a little flexible if needed.

Cosmo looks great other than that Saturday night is $700 alone. So that might be a little steep.

I had looked at PH. Gonna look into Monte Carlo now. Thanks everyone, keep em comin.

You're planning to go over one of the biggest holiday weekends in LV, prices are going to be VERY high for the whole weekend.

Try Imperial Palace (as much as it pains me to recommend that place to anyone), Flamingo or Bill's for more reasonable rates.

I would recommend Planet Hollywood. It isn't as new or chic as Cosmo, but for the budget it meets all of the other wants. Will be hard to swing a "view" room on that weekend with your budget though.

Monte Carlo is great for the price, but it is an older property with what I consider a bit older client base. But, it has a good location with easy access to Cosmo, Aria and Planet Hollywood...so you are quite near "hipper" properties.

Everything I see shows Memorial Day weekend the same prices as the weekends before/after.

Monte Carlo is great. Also, MGM. Tropicana gets good reviews. You might also try Luxor for good rates, or quite a step down, Excalibur usually has some of the cheapest rates on the strip.
