Help - where to stay in Vegas

We will be visiting Vegas in December from 17 to 22 dec for 5 nights.

We have been to Vegas twice before but last trip was 10 years ago

This time there will be my husband me and our two children 7 and 17

We want to stay on the strip in at least a 4 to 5 star hotel We really want nice rooms non smoking with good food options and facilities gambling isn't a high priority. Some show suggestions would be good. Are there any concerts in Vegas during this time.

Any help or suggestions would be great

not easy on the wallet , but maybe the Wynn? It has a great view, a very very nice pool and one you are out of the casino area and up in the actual hotel it is very calm...

For 4 or 5 star resorts I'd go with Venetian or Palazzo for a family of 4 since the rooms are so nice and big. ANother option is Wynn/Encore. Both are beautiful and luxurious! Venetian and Palazzo probably have better dining options for a family. Grand Luxe Cafe is perfect for kids. Wynn/Encore have amazing dining! I've eaten at all but 1 restaurant there and they are all awesome!!

For shows I'd recommend a Cirque show. I think Mystere would be good for the kids.

The kids and you would love Nathan Burton. Excellent show and cheap. The kids may also like the Popovich animal show. Just google shows in Vegas and a ton of them will show up. Have fun

Although a step down i would also consider MGM, rooms just remodeled, good food selection, you may want to look at their suites

There is absolutely nothing for kids at Wynn, who in fact discourages their presence. They do have a pizza place, but don't really have any family-friendly dining.

Venetian would be the best choice, partly due to the room design. In the Bella Suite (basic room with 2 beds) their is a sunken living room with a couch area very comfortable for a child. It also has it's own TV. Venetian also has a lot to see and do, and great dining at every price level, including 2 food courts.

Don't worry about the pool, as it won't be pool weather.

If by "good food options" you mean a wide variety of food options at all price rangens that will appeal to the whole family, I completely agree with ktinca's suggestion of the Venetian. Or the sister hotle Palazzo if you intent have a car and self-park.

It is way too early for concerts in December to be announced yet. Generally non-production shows are announced 2-3 months before the day of the show. Keep checking sites like vegas.com and ticketmaster.com.

We've just returned from Vegas with our kids (9&15). We spent 5 nights at Paris and 4 nights at Flamingo in a GO Room with Strip View (broken up by trips to Monument Valley & Grand Canyon). My 15yo son loved the room at Paris whereas my 9yo daughter loved the modern chic GO rooms and we all loved the view of the Bellagio Fountains from our room.

We dined at the Le Village Buffet at Paris a few times for breakfast and we love this place. None of the casino themselves have much for the kids to do.

While in Vegas we did these activities - pinball museum, indoor skydiving, zombie package at The Gun Store, shopping, hubby & son enjoyed spending time at Bass Pro/Outdoor World, Eiffel Tower attraction, Bellagio Fountains, Mirage Volcano, Penn & Teller and Mystere. Once we left Vegas we then went to San Diego and took the kids to SeaWorld and San Diego Zoo.
