What do you wish that somebody had told you?

This topic will be a simple one, but could be very informative for anybody planning their first trip to Vegas. Think back to your first trip to Vegas and pick something, good or bad, that you didn't know, but you sure wish somebody would have told you before you went.

There are a couple that come to mind for me right off the bat. I wish somebody would have warned me about how addicting Vegas can be. Not that I'm complaining, but still. Also, I wish somebody would have told me that just because that next casino looks so close, it's really a much longer walk than it appears to be. I hadn't discovered tripadvisor by the time I made my first trip.

That the monorail does not always save you from a long walk. It usually takes longer than you think to walk to the monorail to board. Sometimes quicker to just walk to your destination unless its really far.

Always check for comps before you leave. I know this is silly but I never knew until recently that you could ask for part of the hotel to be covered or a meal. I have always had something removed by a host with the exception of Total Rewards.

First Trip - Used mostly cheapovegas maps - They are not to scale...:(:(

I thought we could stroll down the strip from the Stratosphere to Luxor and back up the other side in a day....Stopping to drink and gamble a little in every Casino....Ya Right!!!

In 110 degree heat no less - went in July...

Dumb...I know...but this was back in Y2K and I was new to both computers and Vegas...

My first trip in 2003 I literally did not "get" that there was a downtown and a strip. I planned my first trip around a road trip to Zion and grand canyon North Rim and vows at Viva Las Vegas chapel. They offered a free room or free limo to and from your hotel if you stayed elsewhere. So we started there our first night and didn't know one thing about anything. That is a bad part of town. We drove to some bar and had drinks and played bad video poker not even yet seeing the strip. The next morning we found our main hotel, Bally's and the strip and a WHOLE NEW WORLD opened up to us!

It was an adventure so I don't regret it, but I only wish someone would have told me about strip and downtown and such.

I remember talking to a couple at Viva Las Vegas. The man said he and his wife didn't get married there, they were staying there because it was cheap. He said his wife always wanted to stay at Treasure Island but it cost more. I thought, "poor wife"

There is a moving walkway that goes from the strip sidewalk to the door at the Bellagio. It's on the south side of the driveway.

That the Stratosphere is in the ghetto and not to walk behind it.
