Excalibur or Harrahs?

Soooo excited going to Vegas in August. Cant decide whether to stay at Excalibur or Harrahs would like to be in the middle of the action. Do want a clean room, a casino and a nice pool. I would welcome some advice.

Widescreen room at Excalibur would be fine and pool area much better than Harrahs.

Harrah's is more centrally located on the strip, although I personally do not like the casino there. Excalibur has more children activities and is down by NYNY, MGM, Luxor area.

Are those your only options?

Harrah's has a more central location, but Excalibur's location isn't bad.

Both places will give you a clean room. As long as you book a "widescreen" room at Excalibur, I actually think it slightly better than the rooms at Harrahs. The rooms at Harrahs' are clearly better than the non-widescreen Excalibur rooms.

The casino and pubic areas of Excalibur feel a bit worn and dumby vs those in Harrahs.

Pool at Excalibur is *much* better than Harrahs.

If pool is important, I'd go with Excalibur. Otherwise, Harrah's (also look at Flamino and Bally's... same family as Harrah's with better rooms and pools.)

T centre of the action here, but mid-strip, IMO, is from about Venetian/Palazzo in the north to about Planet Hollywood going south. give or take a few steps. Harrah's in smack inside that area. Excalibur is further south than that, but does sit on a corner near NYNY, MGM, and Tropicana, has trams to Luxor and Mandalay Bay, and good bus service up the strip, so you certainly aren't isolated.

Excalibur will have the better pool. I've never used either, but from quick looks and available info, Harrah's pool is not on the list of better Vegas pools. Both properties are not on the luxury list either, but will provide you a fairly decent serviceable room. In my booking travels over the years, Excal usually comes out as the cheaper option, unless you go with the renovated widescreen rooms that cost a little more.

It will really depend on how important the pool is to you. If it's very important you may also want to price out other properties with good pools as a comparison.

Harrah's location is better. As soon as you walk out the door, you are literally on the strip. ExCal has a longer walk out (they have a moving walkway in, but not out). If you plan on being out and about exploring other casino's, then I'd go for Harrah's.

I have stayed in a wides screen room at the ExCal - room was quite nice. I believe ExCal get bashed unfairly on this forum. The pool area is also quite nice.

Whichever you chose, you will have a good time. Neither one is a "bad" choice, They just have different pluses and minuses.

That should say there's some debate about the centre of the action here....won't let me edit.

Excal will give you the better room, widescreen

Excal will give you the better pool grounds

Excal will have more children

Excal is easy to valet

Harrahs has the better location

Harrahs has an older generation of people

Harrahs has less children

Both hotels have pro and con on restaurants

Harrahs has IMO the better buffet

Harrahs is closer to all the major hotels

The choice is yours to make

harrahs has no resort fee and exc has, if i'm correct, depending on how long your staying might be a factor, we stayed exc about 13 years ago and i t was fine, [we had 2 young kids], but it does get looked on as the low end, on here

Hi Thankfully no children coming with me. Not really a big gambler will have a little play here and there. I expect we will be out and about most of the time but like the idea of a swim and a cocktail by the pool. I guess I dont want to be surrounded by children as not taking mine. We wont have a car so will be using public tranbsport. thanks for the advise I guess Im leaning towards Harrahs. We were leaning towards a wide screen room in excalibar and a luxury room in Harrahs.

I like to play slots as soon as I come down the elevator each morning, so I stay where I like to play. I do not like the casino at Excalibur and I love the casino and the older crowd at Harrahs, so my choice would be Harrahs, regardless of the room..
