I can't take full credit for this. Someone else had linked to it in a forum post a couple months ago. I liked it so much that I saved the webpage link to share with others. I wish I could recall who the poster was that originally posted it.

After a quick search, I found the thread where I had first come across this. It was in a reply by COusinEddie:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g45963-i10-k503898…

Going back even further, it appears that it was first posted here on 3/14/2010 by steph124ny in this thread:

tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g45963-i10-k347527…

It was a very interesting read. So thanks to steph124ny for bringing this to TA.

Great reading! I am a fan of reading about the settling of the west and Las Vegas has so many interesting facets. I just finished reading up to the 1960's.

One thing I have noticed, we talk of LV always tearing down its history and by my understanding, I am reading where things were either torn down to build new or incorpated (i.e. Binons taking over the Mint as an example) so maybe that is just LV's DNA to reinvent itself.

The sad part for me is a lot of these hotels/casinos were still around during my first real trip to Vegas and I don't remember seeing some of them before they were impoded. I wish I could somehow rewind my brain and see if I really do recall seeing them.

I appreciate the kudos, but VIVALASVEGAS is actually a Tripadvisor member, and he created the site. I've just been around here forever and have it saved in my favorites so I bring it up from time to time. I read through the site before going to The Neon Boneyard and it made the trip even more fascinating!

So the real prize goes to John aka VIVALASVEGAS for making such a wonderful site!
