Wynn or Aria - 1st time visitors

My wife and I (29 yr olds) will be heading out there in August (4 nights). I've heard great things about both hotels, but it seems to come down to Wynn's comfortability and service vs Aria's location. Anyways what do you guys see as the pros/cons of both, hopefully your comments will help sway us in the right direction.

**note that we are both very active. Although we will definitely gamble here and there, the trip will mostly be devoted to seeing and doing as much as we can in the area.

Both hotels are nice enough that you don't have to go anywhere for anything if you don't want to. I suppose most might say the dining is a little better at Wynn, but you won't suffer at Aria either.

The one thing that stands out at Aria is the Spa. Not because it is nicer than the one at Wynn, which is one of the best, but because Aria has more shared areas for men and women than any other Strip hotel. So if you want to spend spa time together Aria is the better choice.

This is the way I think of location: No matter where you stay you will want to see both Cosmopolitan and Venetian. If you stay at Aria, Cosmo is close by but Venetian is a longer walk or short cab ride. If you stay at Wynn, Venetian is close by and Cosmo is a longer walk or short cab ride.

If everything you wanted to see was in one 2 or 3-block area then one might have a better location than the other, but it's not so you are going to walk anyway. So don't make either location a factor in your choice.

To go with what ktinca says I don't think you can really miss with either hotel. Both are close to compelling attractions, both have great amenities on site and both have really nice rooms.

From your room to the strip might be a slightly longer trip at Aria than at Wynn but once your out front of Aria/CityCenter you're right in the middle of the action whereas with Wynn you've gotta walk a little south. You'll be doing a ton of walking anyway so this is a moot point.

If I had to pick one I'd go with Aria simply because I enjoy that area of the strip and find myself drawn more to locations around there (that said I leave for Vegas in 2 days and am staying at TI to try and get some north strip flavour).

Are you planning to go to any clubs? I know Aria has Haze but it doesn't seem to be as popular as those at Wynn. Both hotels are beautiful and you really can't go wrong with either.

Wynn all the way. Nicer rooms, nice looking crowds, great spa, dining, gambling and the day club/pool party/nightclub at the Wynn properties are more desirable. It's also across the street from Fashion Show Mall for the wife:)

I"m a fan of Encore but I prefer the location of Aria much better. I tend to stay at Aria or the other resorts there since its easier to walk anywhere when I want to.

Its easier to get to places in that part of the strip vs the Wynn. Thats my personal preference. I dont really go to the Mall on the strip and hardly anything North of Wynncore. If I do go to Venetian/Palazzo, its just to have a bit to eat. Everything else I prefer to do is center strip.

In 2010 I spent 4 nights at Wynn, in 2011 I spent 4 nights at Aria. The rooms at Wynn seem to be a little larger, but not much. My girlfriend thought the bed was slightly better at Wynn, but both were outstanding. Dining is pretty much a wash as it is outstanding in both places. Aria seemed to have better bells and whistles as far as electronics, but it may have been that we just couldn't figure out how to use everything at Wynn.

For your first trip I would probably pick Aria simply because of the more central location. That said, you will not go wrong with either of these hotels. They are without question the two finest hotels I have ever stayed in, and I have also stayed at The Venetian.

I'm wondering the same thing.... does either hotel offer guest free access to their nightclub and reduced lines?

I would pick Wynn over Aria if you plan on venturing out to see other properties. Wynn is designed to draw visitors in. Aria is designed to trap visitors in. To simply walk from the Aria casino/hotel lobby to the Cosmopolitan (right next door) is a long, indirect, meandering hassle.

Though Aria rooms are most certainly very nice, the layout of the property itself is a disaster. I also prefer the Wynn casino much more than the dull, uninspired Aria one. Wynn rooms are also some of the best in the city.
