want to check out the strip with family??

We are arriving in Vegas for one night between Zion and Yosemite - Will be there probably mid afternoon and would like to take our two teenage kids to see the strip. Any suggestions on a few places to check out - not looking for a show or anything - just thought we could park at a hotel, walk around for a few hours sightseeing, eat at a restaurant and then head back to the Aliante station...... Any ideas would be much appreciated!!! Thanks!

If the kids are into scary rides then be sure to take them to the Stratosphere. Check out Venetian for yourself and to maybe check out Madam Tussauds wax museum. The Bellagion Conservatory is nice for all and the water show in front is great to see. If you are into collector cars then Imperial Palace has a really nice collection and inexpensive to see. Could go to the top of the Eiffel Tower in front of Paris. Fun to do. Roller coaster at New York. It will take more than an afternoon to see the hotels so you should have no problem spending your time. Have fun

Thank you!! I am presuming we are able to park at the Bellagio or similar hotel (i think i read that somewhere) and just walk around? Any good restaurants with your standard american fare - i haven't been there for so long that i am sure they aren't even around any longer ;-)

You can park at any strip hotel, self or valet parking. With kids you might want to try Grand Lux Cafe in Venetion, or StripBurger at the Fashion square mal. there are so many choices that fit your criteria, best to read the reviews here on TA and narrow it down. Oh, and if you are there after dark, don't forget the Volcano at the Mirage.

I suggest having the kids do some research about the different properties and the attractions there so they can choose what's most interesting to them. But I agree that the Venetian and Bellagio would be nice to explore. And if you do go to the Venetian, I second the recommendation of Grand Lux Cafe for lunch or dinner. It's a Cheesecake Factory with a different name -- extensive, wide-ranging menu and decent casual food.

Thank you all - you just planned it for us!! We love the cheesecake factory so the cafe sounds perfect - i will check the map and see how far the Bellagio is from the Venetian. I am not sure how far after dark we will be as we want to get an early start to Yosemite although the volcano sounds great - Thanks again!!

It might actually be easier to valet park at Paris? I like it there as it's a small layout. And you are directly across the street. You can walk surface level right in front of Planet Hollywood or just slightly further south (or north at Ballys) you can use the overpass.

If you do want to do the auto collection at IP, you should be able to print free passes for all from here:

autocollections.com/index.cfm?action=free

It will be a bit more difficult to access while the Linq construction is happening, but you can get into IP from the Carnaval Court entry area at Harrahs or walk back thru Harrahs & cross over to IP via the monorail bridge area.

If you go into the conservatory at Bellagio, go to the back corner (opposite cafe) & a few feet into that hallway is the World's Largest Chocolate fountain which is a neat 5 minute stop.

Even a walk thru the Forum Shoppes at Caesars is fun just to see the circular escalators.

Just remember, the kids can walk thru the casinos with you but can't loiter. Stick to the walkways.

Thanks jgates8 - very helpful information! It sounds like there is lots to do in a somewhat contained area with not that much time..... Great! Thanks again.

Ditto what everyone has already mentioned. Also, not sure if you're kids are too old for this stuff or not, but you might want to check out M&M World and World of Coca Cola (they are next to each other). M&M World offers a free 3D movie on their third flood. World of Coke is basically a big Coke merchandise store, and you can try the Taste of the World (different drinks from around the world).
