My first TR: Wynn, Csomo, plenty of eat, drink and play

Just boarded my flight to Frankfurt over Detroit after 6 nights in Vegas. My 6th time in the 6th consecutive year - but it wasn't an evil trip :-)

Male, 36 years, this time with a friend, same age, first time to Vegas.

Try to use the time for my first TR, sorry for some errors - I'm a non native english speaker and it's actually quite bumpy across the Rocky Mountains.

My first two times in Vegas I stayed at the Southpoint and the Luxor which both impressed me. Knowing my favorite places and wanting a little bit more upscale hotel, I moved over the MGM to the Venetian and Aria. I would have really loved to stay again at the Aria, but due to a lousy Mlife offer I wasn't willing to spend my money at MGM properties. I know, I'm not one of the biggest players but after running 40k through the slots I would at least expect a rate which is lower than promotional rates for everybody knowing the Vegas deal sites (speak: who knows this fabolous board).

So this time I've decided to split my stay in two halfs of three nights at the Wynn and the Cosmopolitan.

Will post as replys.

Day 1 - begin of 3 nights @ the fantastic Wynn

Tired from an 18 hrs trip to Vegas I was happy to get my luggage, pick up my rental car and did Valet and Check-In at the Wynn exactly 60 minutes after deboarding the plane.

30$ upgrade per night got us a premium view from the 60th floor over the Golf Court - and it was totally worth it! The room was spacious and absolutely perfect. Everything you need while not too fancy.

After a quick shower I went down to the casino to check out the slots (I'm more a slot player with some BlackJack and Let It Ride sessions).

Played for about two hours with good cocktail service.

Went to Senior Frogs at the TI for dinner - reasonable food but very loud and wild atmosphere at the end of a stressful day. But I will definitely get back there.

Signed up for the TI players club, getting a T-Shirt after 500 points and won 100 freeplay after 1000 points. Left a couple bucks down but with a couple of beers more and called it a night. This was my only play at a MGM resort for the whole trip.

Day 2 started with shopping. I love to fly to the US of A with a only half full luggage and shop for clothes for maybe 1/3 I would pay at home.

Because of the heat I've chosen the Premium Outlets South. Found everything I was looking for and some more. Afterwards back to the Wynn for an afternoon slot session, lost a little bit but the slots aren't as tight as some people want to make you believe because its an upscale hotel.

Delicious steak dinner at the north strip Outback.

On day 3 we drove to Rhyolite Ghost Town and Death Valley.

Both very impressive and unforgetable. Once more I must say that Vegas is sorrounded by the most fascinating natural wonders. Show me one place in the world with such great possibilities...

Got back to Vegas tired at the end of a very hot day around 4 pm (left at 8 am).

Had dinner at Maggianos at the Fashion Show Mall. Fantastic food, rich portions.

Back to the slots at Wynn afterwards for some more gambling.

At the end of the day I went to the players club desk and asked polite if I may get some comps for my play. Was down around 500 and had gathered about 6000 points. I didn't await much at a house like this. But hey - I got two nights comped and a host told the Red Card lady to give me his card. I still can't believe this happened to me!!! :-)

My friend who was new to their slot club also got his account checked and received two buffet passes for his play.

Day 4 - moving from luxury and understatement to the empire of ignorance and wannabes.

We ended our Wynn part of the trip with a comped breakfast at their buffet. Because it was saturday it was more kind of a brunch.

I only can say: I have stayed in many hotels and restaurants around the world but I have never seen something like this before. Very impressed!

Around noon we went to the Hofbrauhaus to see my team loosing the ECL final against chelsea. Sigh :-(

So it was already 4 pm when we arrove at the Cosmopolitan to check in for one of their city rooms. I asked for a payed upgrade but they were totally sold out.

Had to learn that 4 pm is to early to get a room at the Cosmo - sorry, this is a no go for a hotel charging prices like this! At 6 pm we finally got the call that our room is ready.

First impression: Nice room, nice partial view of the fountains, Caesars and the Venetian complex.

On our way to the room we passed a couple of breakfast tablets and used linens waiting to be removed. Are the wagers of housekeeping stuff really that high that it's not possible to keep such a new and wannabe upscale property clean???

Toured Aria / Monte Carlo / NYNY / MGM to see a part of the MGM casino area quite messed up due to the renovation. I'm glad not to have stayed there actually but the model of their new rooms looked quite good, so I will give them another try on one of my next trips.

Played slots at the Cosmo for a couple of hours and called it an early night.

I like the small (compared to the other) casino with plenty of eyecandy around. Although with my 36 years sometimes I felt quite old :-)

Casino area felt little bit cold for me (and I really like well cooled rooms) and quite windy on a lot of slots.

Day 5 - south strip

Started the day at the Cosmo slots. Had lunch at Holsteins. Delicious Burger and a very good shake - enough for the rest of the day.

Spent the afternoon hours at the Planet Hollywood Casino which I strolled through a couple of times but never played there a lot before.

I enjoyed playing card games at the Pleasure Pit with its dealers and choice of music. And yes, I also played their lousy 6:5 BlackJack. Counted 14 BlackJacks in 4 hours. With 15$ per hand this is a net loss of 63 $ compared to 3:2 BJ. Quite high fee for dealers in short dresses but cocktail service was brilliant and only having to cross the street to get to bed was worth it. This time.

Getting back to our room around 2 AM we had to see that our room wasn't made up (we didn't have a privacy sign out). Hooray for Cosmo!

Day 6 - last day

After getting to bed late in the night at 2 am, we've decided to sleep as long as we can on our last full day in Vegas.

Cosmo didn't want us to lose precious Vegas time lying in bed so they woke us (and all other guests) around 6 am with an unbelievable loud one minute 'pre-alert, stay tuned for more information' followed by a cancelation exactly that loud 10 mins later. We never heard a word of excuse and why this happened.

Never really finding back to sleep we drove to the new Hoover Dam Bridge for some final sightseeing. Again: Wow!

Spent the afternoon gambling at Cosmo and Planet Hollywood.

Another great dinner at PF Changs - due to a recommendation in one of the TR's in this board.

Getting back to our room around midnight and well - the room wasn't made up again! This was the moment I've lost my last sympathie for this property. No, its not enough to have a nice casino, some cool bars and restaurants and 'the' club jn Vegas. You also have to do the basics right, especially while charging 250 and more per night.

Summary

I totally enjoyed my trip. Got a new favourite hotel with the Wynn and will definitely get back to this great facility.

Maybe it wasn't fair to get to the Cosmopolitan after the Wynn and to compare both of them. But the number of minor issues and the ignorance of the staff while asking for them to be fixed will take the Cosmo from my list of possible hotels for my next stay. There are plenty of alternatives doing a better job for the same or even less money. This just wasn't the type of customer service I'm used to get in the USA.

No disappointment at all of the restaurants we've visited.

The next time I will come a little bit earlier in the year to avoid the really hot temperatures - another Vegas lesson learned.

Highest slot wins:

Couple of hundreds at Planet Moolah Video Slots, Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers and Hot Hot Respin Slots

Couldn't end a sessions up at:

The Hangover, Ghostbusters, Top Dollar

Finally I have to say:

Man, I love this city!
