30th Birthday Trip Report- survival of the drunkest

So I love reading trip reports on here and got so much helpful information from everyone on this forum so thought I'd share my tale. Please bare with me it's my first trip report. I'll try not to make it to long but I tend to get carried away...as although I've been to Vegas probably 15+ time this was by far my favorite trip.

Background: because I was turning 30 I was not happy. So all my closest friends, and brother and sister in law and 2 cousins decided Vegas was the way to go. 16 people later were all going to Vegas and its was already making my 30th b-day much easier to cope with. So my birthday was on July 6th and this saga begins on July 5th. I will post as a reply.

So in my younger years I use to go to Vegas 3-5 times a year. From Denver airfare is always reasonable and it's an easy long weekend trip. Now that I've turned 30 I haven't been to Vegas in almost 4 years. I went to law school and graduated had a baby and got a real adult job, so this was much needed.

The trip starts on Thursday afternoon where I was set to leave Denver with myt two girlfriends at 7:00 p.m. Unfortunately because of my work schedule we had to do the late flight. Although working all day with the Vegas anticipation weighing on my mind made for a not so productive day. Alas I finished what I needed to and was ready to leave the office. I ditched the suit threw on my 5 inch heels and was off to pick up my bestfriend and head to the airport. We got to DIA about 4:45 checked in on Southwest and watched the surprised look on the SW employees face when they asked how many bags we each had and he was shocked when we said 5 bags. LOL what can I say I need a lot of shoes. Once checked in we headed to the nearest bar and had a few Margaritas, and began making friends. We meet up with a group of guys who were also on put flight heading to Vegas as well for a bachelor party. After a $300 airport bar tab we were all off to Vegas. My bestfriend told the flight attendants it was my b-day and they got the whole plane to sing happy birthday and gave me 2 free shots....which was just what I needed after the airport margaritas.... Smooth landing and I got to see the strip at night out my window for the first time. Gorgeous just as I always remembered. We head down to baggage claim where as I get off the escalator see a man in a suite holding a sign with my name on it. Yay limousine. My girlfriends I flew with had arranged the limo drive as a nice surprise. We had to wait about 10 minutes for my other girlfriend S to land and meet us at the carousel where our poor limo driver collected all 7 pieces of luggage and off we went. Stopped at the liquor store and in what seemed like minutes we were pulling up to the enormous and gorgeous Aria. Last time inwas in Vegas it wasn't built yet, so I didn't know what I was in for.

Walked right up to the check in counter with no line. We had reserved a corner suite for the 3 of us. We had our room keys and were off to our room in about 3 minutes. We booked back in february and the resort fees were only $20 then and although they were recently raised to $25 they honored our February reservation and only charged us the $20 a day. Yay!! Went up to the room and made the long walk down the hallway and opened the door to such beauty!! Wow what a room. Although the first thing we all said was it smells like smoke in here. Once we are done checking out the beautiful room I called down to the main desk and asked about the smoke. It doesn't really bother me but one of my girlfriends seemed really bothered by it. The front desk apologized and said they could comp us breakfast or try to move us rooms. I asked if we could move. He put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back on and apologized for the wait and told us to head on up to a different room on the 44th floor. We were currently on the 23rd floor. He said our keys had already been transfered and we could go right up. We went to the next room and WOWEE it was a corner suite but looked bigger and the views of the strip were spectacular. When the bell boy brought our luggage up. He explained the room and how to use all the remote controls etc. I asked him why this room seemed different he said it was a panoramic corner suite. SCORE!

By this time it was about 10:30 Vegas time and we were ready to go. I called 4 of my other friends who were already there since earlier in the day and were also staying at Aria and told them to come up to the room and have some drinks while we got ready for the night. About 30 min later we were all ready to head out. One of my best guy friends from highschool who there and when we all came out of the room in 5-6inch heels he said ohhh ladies that's a bad idea. To which I respond pain is beauty. This will later bite me in the a**.

We headed downstairs to the casino where I put $50 on black on the first roulette table I found. This is always my Vegas tradition. Black 3! Score! I'm ready up. Down the strip we head on foot stopping in a few casinos on the way getting drinks etc. We ended up at miracle mile mall where there was some promoter guy standing out front and promised us free entry for the whole party including guys which was a big plus and free drinks for ladies until 1. I can't remember what it was called but I think it was Rock bar or something like that. Anyway the dj was awesome playing 90's hip hop on up to top 40. It was busy but not so packed you couldn't move or dance. They also had beer pong tables which the guys loved. We ended up staying there shaking our tail feather until sometime around 4. My feet were starting to hurt. When we walked out of the club my other two girlfriends conceded and pulled out there little ballet slippers from there bags and lost the high heels. Then my friend matt said I told you so...me being the prideful girl I am said nope my feet don't hurt. We then walked back to Aria where we all said our goodnights. I made it to the and down the hall to my room where I opened the door and couldn't get the shoes off fast enough. My 2 girlfriends and I then filled up the beautiful bathtub and turned on the jets where we all soaked our feet and had girl talk for about an hour. We got ready for bed and all ended up sleeping in the one bed together and it was PLENTY big enogh for us. Night one bed by about 5:30 a.m. Good night. Sorry this is getting long I'll try to make the next few days shorter.

Day 2

So here we are on Day 2-July 6th and it was my actual birthday-day. About 10 a.m. there was a knock on the door which woke us up.  We tried to not answer but the guy outside said "Room service". We didn't order room service but were not above eating some mistakenly delivered food.  My friend got up and opened the door and in came rolling in a bottle of champagne orange juice and chocolate covered strawberries.  There was a card with my name on it so clearly room service wasn't mistaken.  The card read "Happy Birthday and Good Morning! Enjoy love Matt". Matt's the guy from highschool who was giving me a hard time about my shoe choice last night.  It's true I love him even more for sending us mimosa's in the morning.  We sat around enjoyed the beautiful view of the Vegas morning and drank mimosa's.  That really helped with the no hangover thing.  We then got ready and were ready to start the day around 11:30. We were all starving and after drinking a bottle of champagne and not eating anything since 5 p.m. At the airport yesterday we were thinking we really needed some food.  We were thinking we wanted something cheaper and easier since we had a big birthday meal that night.  So one of my favorite Vegas traditions is Ellis Island.  So jumped in a cab and off we went.  Cab was about $8 and we walked in to Ellis Island just as I remembered dark damp and smokey.  Yay!  It was pretty busy and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated.  When we sat down I told the girls.  Don't bother looking at the menu you want the steak special.  They obliged.  We ordered 3 steak specials and got our beers and soon there after were very satisfied.  Some people don't enjoy ELlis Island I for one am always a big fan of cheap eats that fill my belly.  So from there we walked over to Ceasar's and stopped at one of the frozen drink bars to get an obnoxiously large frozen drink with extra shots for $22.  It was worth every dollar as it was 104 degrees out.  They of course gave me 2 free separate shots because it was my b-day and because apparently the bottle of champagne and beer I had already drank wasn't enough for early afternoon.  We proceeded to walk through the forum shops which is still one of my favorite things about Vegas.  Stopped at fat Tuesday's for some atomic cherries (everclear soaked cherries)....YUCK!!  Since it was my b-day they told me I could have as many as I could eat for free.  I'm not one to be wasteful so 6 seemed like a good number.  My girlfriends were right there with me keeping up.  Soon there after the boys meet us there where they had some catching up to do.  We then walked the shops refilled my obnoxious frozen drink for another round.  I was super bummed they removed the big FAO Schwartz that use to be in Caesars.  I was looking forward to getting something fun for my munchkin there.  Anyhoot by this time it was getting to be about 4 and the rest of our party was flying in shortly.  So we headed back to our hotel and my bestfriend Megan was feeling a little under the weather said the food at Ellis Island made her sick....pshhhh light weight so she went to the room to take a nap in effort to rally for the big b-day bash that night.  My friends Matt and David and my other friend Safiya and I all decided we wanted to have some more fun so we thought we'd head back out on the strip.  We made plans with everyone to meet in my room at 7:15 to have a pre-birthday party before the night begins.  So the nappers went to sleep and the rest of us hit the strip.

My friend David is a Vegas expert can get to virtually every casino in Vegas without walking outside. It was very impressive.  We went over to Luxor because I had gotten free tixs to Crisscross Angel on satuday night  as part of our booking package.  I read the reviews on this forum about the show and didn't have a whole lot of desire to see it.  But thought maybe I could sell them or something.  So got the tixs and we hit the craps table for a while.  After all I had been in Vegas for nearly 24 hours and only made one bet. That's so not like me. So we found a $10 table and bought in for $300 and started playing.  The dealers were super fun and the table was lively.  We played for a little over an hour and a half and didn't win but had a great time.  By this time my brother and sister in law had just checked in at Vdara and we wanted to go say hi and check out there room.  Walked back and caught the monorail which was a nice break from the heat.  Got a drink at the bar waiting for my bro to come let us up the elevator.  Tried to male friends with some of the other people sitting there but I got the impression that they choose a casino free hotel for partial purpose of not wanting to deal with drinking people. Lol anyhoot checked out the room it was nice. No corner suite but you know. ;-).  My friends and I the. Headed back to Aria as it was after 6 and we were far behind on our getting ready process.

Got back to the room and Megan was already awake and showered thank goodness.  I (of course) made a drink and jumped in the shower.  Aria has amazing showers the water gets SO hot.  After a nice long shower I was feeling very ready for a great night. I walked out of the shower into the living room and my 2 girlfriends had decorated the whole room in happy birthday streamers  and balloons.  And the room looked so pretty.  I felt very special.  We proceeded to our getting ready process.  Thank goodness the room has 2 bathrooms we needed every mirror and every plug we could get.  Lol. 7:15 sharp there was a knock on the door.  Ugh why are people always on time.  It was my 4 guys friends all prettied up and ready for fun.  They of course knew we weren't ready.  A few minutes later everyone else had pretty much arrived. My 4 cousins were staying at Flamingo and had arrived late so said they would meet us at the restaurant.  At last we were ready and my other 3 girlfriends who were staying at Ceasar's also said they'd meet us at the airport.  We had a room cheers and off we went. Since there was 9 of us we got downstairs and the bellman suggested a limo to Ceasar's where we were headed for dinner.  We obliged.  Limo driver was very nice and took us for a little tour of the strip.  It cost $40 for the limo from Aria to Ceasar's and totally worth it.

We had reservations for dinner at Joe's stone Crab and Prime Steak for dinner.  Took us forever to find it.  Always amazed at how huge Caesar's is.  Alas we find it and the rest of our group is waiting for us.  A nice little 10 minute reunion and enough pictures to think Brad and Angelina were standing there and then were seated.  They must have known we were a rowdy bunch as they put us in the back in a room with no other guests.  Hahaha.  I ordered steak the filet mignon I believe and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had.  We also got sides of asparagus and different types of potatoes.  I loved the hashed.  Others had lobster and crab and everyone raved about there food.  I would definitely go back.  We all had 2 drinks or so and dinner and the tab came out to $90 per person.  Totally affordable and super good.  And of course at the end of dinner everyone sang happy b-day and I stuffed my face with cheesecake.

After that we again caught 2 limos back to Aria where we were on the guest list for club Haze.  We arrived at the door and as promised the women all got in for free.  However some fancy smancy DJ was playing that night and it was $75 for the guys to get in.  I for one think this is crazy and absurd and would never ask anyone to pay that to walk in a door.  I know my brother, matt, David and some of my male cousins didn't really want to pay that price and go to the club.  They of course said they would for me but I said no way.  Soy two girlfriends and about 6 others wanted to go to the club so after some reassurances of I promise I'm not mad and just go we split in to two groups, the clubbers and the non-clubbers.    Us none clubbers went to city bar at Aria for a drink to decide what the plan was.  After all i hadn't had a drink in at least 15 minutes.  So I had what was to be the first of many of the weekend amazing chocolate martini's.  YUMMY!!  We then decided to go next door to Cosmopolitan to hit up Chandelier bar.  I again had a chocolate martini...this one was better then the one at Aria,  followed by a raspberry lemon drop martini.  Ohhh so good.  We each all had a different drink so we could try as many as possible.  Someone got a lemon Bellini thing that was awesome.  After this we all decided we wanted to gamble so went to the casino. EEK!  Couldn't find much less than a $25 table in the whole casino.  To rich for our blood. My friend David suggested Bills, for lower limit tables and some fun.  So off we went.  My 5 inch heels were still feeling pretty good so I suggested walking...this will later bite me in the a**.  Stopped off to see the Bellagio fountain show.  Love it. Still can't get over that from the first time I've seem them until this time I've seen them it still amazes me.  I'm feeling the drinks by this time and am really in the gambling mode so pushing on.  Get to Bills and it's very lively and packed!  Find a $5 craps table which will be my home for awhile.  Buy in for $200 lose it all. But had fun.  I decided I needed to win some money so I find my friends and check in on them.  Everyone is having a blast and matt says he's lost $800 playing blackjack but he still looked pretty happy.  Lol so and I say, "were gonna be here for another hour or so right?". Everyone agrees yes.  So I grab Matt and say "come with me if you want to live".  We find the roulette table with 2 open seats and at that moment it was obvious it was meant to be.  Buy in for $100 and put $75 of it out on the table I'm the first bet.  Risqué you say. Well it's my birthday and I'm in Vegas so what the hell.  I end up winning about $185 off that spin and matt does something similar.  I'm feeling pretty lucky and the cocktail waitresses are awesome. It could be that because when we first ordered matt tipped her $20.  She was there every 5 minutes and I think I got a drink just about every 5 minutes.  Sat at the roulette table for about 90 minutes where I walked away up $732 from my original $100 I started with. Matt was up about $300 which made him pretty happy.  At this point it was about 3 am and we all agreed we would head back to the hotel.  Again we walked.  Ugh!!  As we were walking my brother says do your feet hurt I angrily say NO.  He says liar.  We walk a few more which feels like miles and get to a CVS and one of my cousins runs inside to get some beers.  He comes out In tow with his beer and hands me a pair of "Las Vegas" flip flops and says please put these on. To which I respond I'm fine, and to which matt responds she's been biting her lip in pain for the last 20 minutes.  Dang tattle tale.  I remove my shoes and put on the flip flops and have never had more relief in my whole life!!  By the time we get to the hotel it's about 4 a.m. And some of the party goers are to tired to continue.  For whatever reason I am not one of those.  So I bid a do to most everyone and matt and I head to city bar for...you got it cocktails!!  Lol. Moments later my two girlfriends pour themselves into city bar from the club and we all talk and laugh about our night.  About 5:30 we decide to head back to the room.  The 3 girls lay in bed and the sun is coming up on the horizon so we decide to lay there and watch the sunrise....cocktail free believe it or not.  I think we were all awake for about 4 or 5 seconds and then fell asleep or for those of you technical people passed out.
