Las Vegas at Christmas

Hi Everyone

My boyfriend & I have decided we are going to spend Christmas in Vegas, We have both never been before and wondered what its like at christmas time? Is it busy? Where can we find out about shows that might be on?

Also, we are flying from Scotland and the best package deals seem to be through Expedia. Are you best bookign your accommodation seperate with the hotel?

Quieter at Xmas, but get out of town a couple days before NewYear eve to avoid high room prices. Many shows will be dark. Closer to the Dec you can check the sites for the shows you are interested in to see which are open.

I found the exact opposite of CBub & gord123. Thru Dec 23, it was extremely quiet. The 24th became busy, and on Christmas Day, it was an absolute zoo. It was every bit as crazy as Labor Day weekend. The food courts were packed, the buffet was crazy, and even though we had reservations for a sit-down dinner, we had to wait an extra 45 mins before we could be seated because the parties were taking their time and celebrating longer at their tables.

There was no difference in the casino or malls, everything was open, (stores, restaurants, clubs) and unless you looked at the calendar, it was easy to forget it was even a holiday. There were a few Christmas songs playing mixed in with the regular soundtrack, and there were a occasional Christmas trees here and there in the corners.

It only got crazier every day until New Years Eve.

I partially agree with blazyn, the days before, of and after Christmas are pretty busy. The days leading up to Christmas are dead.

But in my experience it dies down the four or five days before New Years, then gets slammed again. Not sure how the days fall this year, but that could change things or not.

Vegasjester makes a good point...it may depend when xmas day falls. This year it and boxing day are midweek. Not sure how that may change vacation plans for a lot of people.

I go ever year in December. Before Christmas and after the Rodeo... Some shows, restaurants and attractions are black but the town is severely less crowded and wonderful few weeks to look around.

I'm assuming when you say the shows are blank it means there is less choice? If it's the shows we're going for, would it be best to go between Christmas and New Years or after New Years?

In my experience Christmas was extremely busy. If I recall Christmas day was on a Saturday, that might have contributed to it being busy. I know this is a touche` subject, but I saw more kids during Christmas than any of our other 10+ trips. I'm not saying it was bothersome per say but I remember people saying it was gonna be pretty quiet and it was quite the opposite.
