ACG is now $9.48....but is it worth it for Us?

I just noticed that the American Casino Guide is now $9.48 ($14.29 with shipping and tax).

However, the coupons don't look as good as the last time we purchased the book.

I have some questions about some of the coupons I might be tempted to use.

25% off Harrah's buffet. Do you get a percentage off for using your TR card anyway?

20% off Margheritaville. Same question. Don't you get a percentage off using your TR card.?

Ellis Island buy one get one free entree. Is the steak special included in this?

We would use the RIO coupons if we happened to be there.

I am leaving this month and also debated about purchasing the book. To me I figured it wasn't worth it as I'd only be using it in Vegas for the week we are there. I didn't think I'd use enough to make it worth my while.

Well I bought one.If you use the Ellis Island one you want to order a bigger steak here than the special--remember its 2 for 1 so max the coupon by b.Get steak and fried shrimp buying the most expensive dinner or bigger steak. They also have four free cocktails.I agree the book has less value this year. But if we make Ellis island I figure not to loose money. The other coupons with value --tickets4tonight--$2 off each ticket. There are others.

Another cheap meal here if you have a car is the Bouganville Cafe in Terribles. No coupons but they have great specials. They have say $9.95 prime rib, a steak deal , and others. This is comparable to Ellis Island and the food pics look great. We are going to give it a try next week.

Another food buy is the buffet of buffets at the CET properties. You can get 3 to four meals here for the $44 a person. You can try a different buffet each meal. The Rio ,Paris or Planet Hollywood ,Flamingo, or Harrahs. All have their good points.

Just some ideas for cheaper food.I noticed overall food has really gotten pricey on the strip maybe some of these will help.

Also we have ate at Ellis Island for breakfast and it is really good for that too.We had biskets and gravy, pancakes, eggs, etc and bacon. All were good and fresh.

I just bought it. I looked at the coupons and while I probably won't use all of them, it's was only $14 to get. I will get the 4 free cocktails at Ellis and my SO and I will both get steaks, so there's the money right there. If I use any of the others then great, if not, I'm not out anything.

Yes, you do get discounts at the CET buffets and Margaritaville for showing your TR card.

Since I get the same discounts (are they the same) at the Caesars properties with a card, then those coupons are not worthwhile for us, right.

I just recieved my ACG for my trip next week. Tons of coupons but one in particular caught my eye.

My friend and I are engineering students, so.... 2 for 1 admission to National Atomic Testing Museum! and seeing as how the price of a ticket is 25+ the book paid for itself with that one ticket. (I paid about 12$ with shipping)

Not to mention all the 2 for 1, free plays and such. Might be some that can't use, but even if I only get to use 1 other coupon, it saved me quite a bit :)

We buy it every year and using the coupon for dinner at Flame at El Cortez pays for the book every time. It's one of our favourite places no hardship there. We also used the free play at El Cortez and Vegas Club, a few of the match plays and the coupon for the Rio buffet.

We had 2 books (1 each) and I used the other Flame coupon on a earlier trip this year. Last year I used the free room night coupon for El Cortez and may do the same this fall. The rooms are nothing special but it doesn't really matter for a couple nights. I'm not going to spend much time in them anyway!

I'll also be using one of the coupons for a show at either the V or Saxe theaters, they're two of the rare coupons that offer 50% off for a single ticket as well as 2-for-1.

Going back to the OP's question - is it worth it? I'd say just add up the value of the coupons you'd likely use and decide from there. If the savings is more than the cost of the book then, yes, it's worth it.
