What are your clearest memories of your first trip to Vegas

My first trip was in 1987. I stayed at the Plaza.

1. I remember the picketing outside the New Frontier.

2. The Bellagio was in the middle of being built.

3. I hit a progressive on my first ever hand of Pai Gow for $5000.

4. I had never played craps before and my first time rolling the dice I went on a 30 minute run.

5. Casino poker is a lot different than kitchen table poker :(

6. I was definitely going to be back again!

The trolley that went up and down strip Absolute sleep deprivation. Married in drive thru at little white chapel. Very hard to find someone who could mix a proper paralyzer. I also rember the streets and sidewalks being very clean.

We flew in on a air/hotel package with Harmony Air staying at Imperial Palace.

Arrived at 12:30am to huge lines and confusion at front desk.

First and only stay at IP.

Blown away by the lights and sights.

Got hooked on Vegas after finding a much better hotel lol.

1986. Losing $600 in our first 2 hours playing BJ. Ex hubby and I were 22 years old and we probably made $15,000 a year between us back then. That busted the budget!

Standing on the overpass between the Tropicana and Excaliber at night looking North up the srtip and being completely blown away by the lights and all the activity.

Being totally overwhelmed by sheer scale of EVERYTHING.

My first trip was in 2008, so I have some very clear memories. However, here are the most memorable:

1. Driving up and down the strip for the first time.

2. Playing blackjack for the first time (for real money!). It was a $15 6:5 table at Luxor, and I knew nothing about basic strategy at the time. Lost my money real fast!

3. Walking through the Grand Canal Shoppes in the Venetian.

4. My first taste of gelato!!!!!

5. My first winning session at blackjack. It was at the Fitz. It was a $10 DD table. I bought in for $40 and played for about an hour. I was sitting at third base, and the lady next to me was smoking like a chimney, and was very drunk and obnoxious. I finally decided it was time to quit, so I went all in for one last hand. I had $50 at that point. I ended up winning the hand and walked away with my first black chip! I have been hooked ever since!

1987. First honeymoon. Wife had no interest in gambling so we had our first married argument (first of many!).

Stayed at the Sands in the low buildings around the pool. How nice to walk out of the sliding doors on the room and in 20 steps be in the pool!

$2 blackjack all over the place.

$1.99 buffets.

Drove to Hoover Dam, either I got lost or there was no freeway yet, but seemed to take forever.

The rest is lost in the hazy mists of time gone by....

My earliest memories of Las Vegas are of playing poker and blackjack.

But the one thing I will never forget is the feeling that Las Vegas was special. We had to dress up at night no matter if we were going to a show, or just dinner and the casino. I had to bring a sports coat, and the women had to bring their finest evening dresses. And of course I'd have to wait an hour before my wife was ready.

No matter how you feel about dressing up in Vegas now, it did make Vegas seem like a very special place. And one that doesn't exist anymore.

1977

I was there are a kid for a soccer tourney at Silver Bowl Park.

It was over Thanksgiving weekend.

Our team along with many other teams stayed at Circus Circus.

It was cold, windy and snowing.

I won stuff (Stuffed animals, etc)at Circus Circus.

My parents gave me a bucket full of change when we left. Probably no more than $10-$20 but at the time I thought it was great.

Deezerk - I hope the Bellagio being built in 1987 isn't won of your clearest memories. It opened in 1998!

Otherwise interesting topic.

My first trip in 1999 and my memory was checking into the Maxim, on my sisters reccomendation, and thinking "WHAT A DUMP! I'M NEVER COMING BACK TO VEGAS"!

After my first stroll down LVB and now between 20 & 25 trips I changed my mind.
