Palms Hotel

Hello,

First time to Vegas and we are staying at the Palms. Wondering if there is a store close by that we could walk to to get a few things and like beer/water to take back to the room? Also we will be getting to Vegas about 8PM and wondering if we should just hang out at the Palms or go explore the strip? Thank you!

You can walk down to Arville on the corner of Flamingo and there is a gas station with a mini-market there for beer and stuff. Or if you're flying in you can ask the cab to stop somewhere along the way.

Gold Coast is across the street and had pretty good prices on liquor on their gifrt shop.

Can't really help with what you should plan for the night, that one's up to you!

I would play it by ear. If you feel really energetic and want to hit the strip, go for it. If you'd rather just chill at your hotel, do that. Either way, I'm sure you'll have fun!

Gold Coast probably will have the best prices.

No matter how tired I cant see why you wouldn’t take a cab up to the strip and explore for awhile since there is not a lot to do at the palms.

Or at least walk over the RIO across the street.

No need to take a cab. Both the Gold Coast and the Rio across the street have free shuttles to the Strip.

Do you just walk over and get in line? Is there a sign that says wait here for shuttle and how often it comes? Will they care if im not staying at that hotel? I know Palms has a free shuttle but just at 11 and 8 or something (sorry I'm a worrier...)

The Rio shuttle is easy to find. When walking from Palms to Rio, you walk right past it. All else fails, ask for directions. Not sure where the Gold Coast shuttles pick up/drop off.

Gold Coast shuttle picks up right in front of the main entrance to the casino. And no, you do not have to be a guest of those hotels to use their shuttles.

The prices in the Gold Coast Gift shop for liquor, wine and beer are very reasonable.

"Gold Coast shuttle picks up right in front of the main entrance to the casino."

It does. But FYI it then goes to Orleans before going to the Bills to drop people off. Personally I would find it a "minor to moderate" hassle to walk across from Palms, get on the shuttle, ride to Orleans, and then ride to the Strip versus just hopping in a cab for the $8-$10 taxi trip directly from Palms to the Strip.
