December Trip - Maybe?? --Questions

Hello all,

So last year in October was my first trip to Vegas and I'm pretty addicted. I took my girlfriend in September and proposed :). ---Now my buddy is going and I want to go too! He is going in December (5-9th) and I was wondering if it was way too cold to be outside then or not too bad?? Is December a good time to go??

2nd part. I usually book expedia or southwestvacations.com but the flights are ridiculous at the moment (we live in Raleigh NC -RDU)....Just the return flight. There is one that comes with the 4 night package with a Bellagio stay for 1084$ which to me is a STEAL. However, the return flight is 11:52PM And I probably would take the day off(monday) from work anyway but I'm not sure if my buddy can do the same. Anyway the next available earlier flight is like +400$ (WTF!!) Will there be other flights open? I can't believe there are only 11:52PM delta flights.

Any advice would be wonderful. Thanks friends!

So - since you've been to vegas before, did you use your "players card" when gambling and are you getting any offers from the casinos (free nights)? If so, see if booking directly with the casino would be a better/cheaper way to go. Also, you know if you book with southwest.com

(not the vacation side) - and your flight prices go down, you can rebook at the cheaper rate.

December 5-9 will be the beginning of the National Rodeo Finals. it'll be busy in vegas, but not ridiculously busy. Remember too that booking Wednesday to Sunday will be more expensive (for the weekend days) - then going Sunday thru Thursday/Friday morning).

There will unlikely be any additional flights than what you see now. Sunday is usually a more expensive day to fly than say a Monday or Tuesday.

Try booking directly with the hotel and airlines. You will most likely get a better deal.

Priceline shows a 2:05 pm flight on December 9 for $259 pp.

Booking directly with hotel and airline is like +500$. Not sure why. Expedia or Southwest is 10/10 always cheaper on all booked trips as I do check and use your suggestions. I think RDU just sucks :)

Thanks for the headsup on priceline tho!

And I understand about Sunday-Thru. The only problem is that one flight time is kind of silly. If I kept the package as is. A whole 4nights at the Bellagio seems rather cheap especially with Weeekend for 1084$

I am going on those exact days with a friend of mine, and I am hoping he weather will be nice...well it can't be any worse than where I am anyways...I think it can go either way weather wise. Either way, it's Vegas and it will be fun! I am looking for hotels now and there are some pretty good deals at smartervegas.com . Mind you we don't stay fancy we are happy at Bally's or Flamingo. Cheers :)

Awesome! I think the temperatures are from 35-59 degree's F. Which is a bit cold, but it will be colder here too.

Hope you have a great trip!

There is no way to predict Dec. weather. When I lived there I experienced weather in the 70's to freezing weather in December.

While temps can vary widely in December, averages run 55-60F.

Prices in December are generally dirt cheap--be sure to price hotel & flight separate before booking a package.

Re: temps. for what it's worth, I went that same week last December and it was uncommonly, ridiculously cold. So cold that we planned everywhere we went on the Strip by how much exposure we would have to the outside air (i.e., we cut through casinos as much as possible). I'm originally from the Northeast and can take the cold, but this was bone chilliing. Again, uncommonly cold for that week.

Also, rodeo was in town, but it didn't feel "too crowded" - just added to the festivities. Have a blast!
