first trip to vegas

I know this question has probably been answered 1000 times but. Me and my wife are planning a trip to vegas in April and want to stay on the strip but not sure where. Any places i should avoid also?

My friend stayed at the monte carlo a number of years ago (5+) but the new reviews i am reading make it seem run down or dirty. can anyone shed light on that?

Impossible to answer fully, except avoid Circus Circus, without details of your dates, budget and what you're looking for in a hotel.

As you looking just for somewhere clean to sleep or a full LV experience.

i liked monte carlo, we stayed there a few times ago. rooms were nice. the one thing that sticks out to me about that place was the size of the casino. it was on the small side but the positive part of that is when you want to go to back to your room it isnt that huge of a walk.

Are you looking for budget, mid range or high end?

Monte Carlo is fine -- I just stayed there with friends that visited in July. Clean, convenient, no problems at all. True - casino is small but it's still a nice casino and it's in a central location -- restaurants are fine -- and, if you're looking for cheap food, food court is fine. You can walk to Aria and Bellagio (or tram there) in minutes. Do avoid Circus and Excalibur. Too many kids. For the money, I think you'll be happy with MC. Have done Wynn, Bellagio and other high-end places. They're certainly nice -- but, in the end, you'll be happier spending the $$$$ on yourself then on the place you sleep.

Without knowing your Budget or what you’re accustomed to one would need more info.

Are you coming over a weekend or Weekdays?

I will be at the Excalibur in a month and have to say that I have never been bothered by kids. Rooms have always been clean. I wouldnt discount it at all. I guess for the first time though I would stay in a more central location. Ballys,Bills,Paris, etc. Depends on how much money you want to spend on a place to sleep. Also depends on whether you're looking for a place thats larger and louder or one thats more laid-back. Good luck

MC is fine but nothing great. Most of the hotels there are good if they are mid price hotels. I would stay away from Circus Circus. Mirage was a good hotel, Paris, New York New YOrk - Aria. Just depends on what you are looking for!

I love these threads where there is a general question and the OP disappears off the face of the earth. Why ask anything if you your not going to follow up.

Makes no sense to me.

Arthur, you are so right. This disappearing act seems to come most commonly when a poster is asked about his/her budget. Like we all live in the same small town?

cozgo, how much do you want to spend per night? What are your dates? (the same room can vary 200% overnight). Weekend or weekdays also are important.
