MGM Grand? Or not so Grand?

My husband and I will be going to Vegas for the first time for my 30th bday. I found a great deal at MGM on a tower suite that I want to book. I am looking for input from people that have stayed there recently. I know the hotel was under renovation not that long ago. Thanks!

It is still under renovation. They're putting in a huge new nightclub at the front of the hotel and there is a lot of construction at the front and in one section of the casino floor.

I wouldn't let that stop you from staying there though, especially if you found a great deal.

We have stayed at the MGM in the past, The only negatives that we encountered (which are not that bad) are that there may be a wait for the elevator, both to & from your room at times, there may be a wait upon check-in and it may take 15-20 minutes to get to the pool area from your room (between the elevator & walking distance) because the hotel/casino complex is so large, so, don't leave your sunscreen in the room! Enjoy your trip!

Thanks for the info, doesn't sound too bad. I don't mind a bit of a wait.

We stay there all the time. Usually don't have a wait at check-in unless there's a big event. They have many clerks so that helps a lot. Elevators very close to check-in, also. It is a bit of a haul to the pool.

We stayed at MGM in April (during full swing of the renovations) and had a great time. Depending on what time your flight arrives, don't forget to take advantage of the check-in desk at the airport. We used it and checked in while we waited for our luggage. It was so fast and easy and we had the luxury of going right up to our rooms from the airport. Enjoy!

MGM is great if you don't mind a huge property. I love the energy there. It's the largest hotel in Vegas and one the the largest hotels in the world.

I think it is Grand! My wife and I have stayed there many times and love the options you have for eating, entertainment, gambling, and the pool area is great! We don't worry about walking a little, after all, it's Vegas and it's a walk to everything! Plus, if you get an Mlife players card, you can gamble at many other MGM properties in the immediate area (NY NY, Monte Carlo, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and even Bellagio (via tram from Monte Carlo).

Thanks everyone! I'm going to book it! We are going at the end of January so I think the pool will be closed. Sounds like all the outdoor pools close down during that time of year in the big resorts which is a bummer. We will definitely have to go back again when it's warmer. Will still be warmer than Alaska in January so it's all good! Lol
