2weeks in Vegas

Thinking of going to Vegas for 2 weeks with my wife in March to celebrate my 50th. Can anyone give me advice on whether this would be too long, what weather would be like, would I be better to get car, and what hotel would be good, we were looking at the Palazzo. Any advice would be appreciated.

BP33: When my husband travels with me, we normally stay anywhere from 11 to 18 days. I'm not sure if anyone can really answer your questions because we don't know what your budget is or what you like doing. For my husband and I we tend to

1) Stay at a condo style resort for at least a week and he always rent a car to go off strip and explore the city. Two weeks in one hotel would drive me crazy and some days we like to get away from the casinos, smoke and crowds.

2) We both gamble but when we stay this long, I start the envelope process and place myself on a daily budget. I also stay in the room a lot and read, watch tv and do what I normally do at home aside from working. I can't imagine staying for two weeks and not having access to a kitchen or washer/dryer and this is why a week is usually spent at the Hilton Grand Vacations - no casino, no smoke and we love the spa and serene feeling we get here.

3) The weather in March varies - I've been there when it was 50, 60 and 70 degrees during the day and cooler at night.

4) Lastly, because we visit so often, we never plan and just play it by ear. I love going off strip to shopping malls and neighborhood restaurants (they are much cheaper). We're really not into historical site seeing, but I love riding with my husband exploring different communities.

March weather in LV can be all over the place. Within two weeks you'll most likely get some warmer days and others when it's cooler.

If you have two weeks, I'd personally spend half of that in Vegas and use the other week to see other places in the western US. You could check out two or three of the amazing national parks or visit cities in California such as San Diego and San Francisco. It comes down to you and what you're looking for.

What do you like to do? What would you like to see during your 2 weeks? Do you want to relax a bit or get out every day and see the sights? Or maybe a combination?

If you can give us a little more information, and maybe break it down a little bit, we will be able to offer some suggestions.

For some, any more than 3 days in Vegas is too many. For others, like me, two weeks is ideal. I have already seen everything there is to see so I basically just drink, gamble, dine, and maybe see a show.

I always go downtown for a least one day to gamble and spend another day gambling off strip at resorts like Red Rock and Silverton.

Way too long even in prime time weather in which March is not.

Grab a car, drive to California and explore.

2 weeks is too much for us but not the USA. I would split the trip. Maybe a week in San Francisco. You can get a good price flight there with southwest air which will include 2 free bags each.

I have stayed in March and the weather is variable, maybe pool one day but too cold and windy the next.

I like Vegas. But I think two weeks would be a long, and expensive time. Palazzo's a very nice place. But add on two weeks worth of gambling, drinks and food, and it will really stack up. March isn't pool weather. You may get a few warm days, but you can't count on them. So, there will be plenty of time where about your only no cost activity is staying in your room.

Now perhaps the fun Vegas has to offer and your wallet are just fine for you. We can't really answer that. I've only done a two week vacation a couple of times. Once in Hawaii, and we split it up between Kona, Hilo, and Kauai. That was fine, because we got out and explored and did different things in different places. The other time was in Puerta Vallarta. More exactly Mismaloya. It was fun but it really did get sort of boring at the end of two weeks. The weather was quite warm, so we could spend the day by the pool or at the beach.

Now, for me, Vegas has so much to do that I think I'd not be bored in two weeks. But I might be broke.

Coming from the UK, I'd really consider splitting it up. Spend a few nights in Vegas. Then head to a couple of other places. Grand Canyon or the other national parks around Vegas. LA and that area. Flights to SF are cheap, fly up there and check things out.

Maybe a few days in a hotel and then move into a Timeshare or a place with a condo type feel. Kitchen and washers. Marriott grand chateau is there. They rent units. Very nice. Great location.

You could either rent a car, or fly to Palm Springs, Los Angles, San Francisco.

Much to see and do. Or fly to NYC........

Have fun

That one is a totally personal question that can't be answered by strangers on a forum. I have friends that Love Vegas as much as I do, but they can't stand being there more then 3-4 days at a time. For me, 2 weeks wouldn't be enough.

The big thing is how much you want to see, and your pace. Most people rush in, gamble, drink, and burn themselves out in a few days. I like to take time wandering around seeing the sights, trying to take everything in, drinking quite a bit, but not to hardcore hangover mode, and still even with 1 week stays, I have never had time ot slow down and have a day in the pool, which I would like to check out one of these years, even if its just to prove it is somewhere in the building.

Budget has alot to do with it to. For going to other places in the US, everything is going to be WAY more expensive. Vegas is the cheapest place I can think of to go for a vacation, period. But what happens after you get out of your room is where the money goes. If you aren't big gamblers, you can make your money last a long time. If you come and blow $1000 a day gambling, then 2 weeks will probabaly blow your budget sky high.

Have you been to the US before? If not, I would split the trip up. I think most people would find 2 weeks in LV too long but some of course don't. I actually don't think I would spend 2 weeks in 1 city in the US. This is a huge county with lots to do and see.

If you go for 2 weeks, yes, get a car. You can then drive to restaurants off strip, go shopping, etc. Also, there are nice day trips out of the city such as Valley of Fire. You could also drive to the Grand Canyon and stay a couple of nights.
