Condo vs.Casino Hotels

We usually stay at the Rio or somewhere on the strip but we are thinking about getting a condo this year. What are some of the pros and cons of staying in a condo? I know having a kitchen for cooking and not have to eat every meal out is one of the biggest pros. We tend to play a lot more at the machines when we are at a hotel casino. I am thinking our gambling dollars my last a little longer when staying in a condo. Now you can start ripping my question and have a Merry Christmas doing so.

I like staying at the MGM Signature, sort of gives you the best of both worlds. I like having lazy mornings and being able to brew my own coffee, and having a fridge for leftovers. I don't ever cook a meal while I am there but still enjoy the amenities.

You have been to Vegas before and probably will go back again after this trip so why not try it this trip and see for yourself. If it interests you go for it you might love it if not lesson learned.

Merry Christmas!

If you want to be able to cook your own meals, even occasionally, then the condo is better for you. They also tend to be a little larger than the run of the mill hotel room. I personally don't, but can understand why others might prefer them.

"I know having a kitchen for cooking and not have to eat every meal out is one of the biggest pros"

We don't have kids anymore. So now when we go on vacation, my wife actaully gets to be on vacation too. She's earned it. She put in many years where a vacation meant that she still had to clean and cook and take care of the kids. So now if we decide to eat in our room, someone else does the cooking and cleaing up. We stay in hotels.

At home she still gets to cook and clean. So when we go to Vegas, it truly is a vacation for her. I don't suppose YOU would be the one doing the cooking and cleaning up? Maybe your wife deserves a vacation too?

We tend to stay in condo style places everywhere except Vegas. I like having the space and separate rooms. We sometimes do cook and, yes, I often do the cooking even though my wife usually cooks at home. And I do the clean up, which I usually do at home. More commonly, though, eating in the condo consists of making breakfast (eggs are eggs, no matter where they're cooked) or making sandwiches and pre-mixed drinks for the beach. Never stayed in a condo in Vegas, though. But after several good reports here and good reports from co-workers, I may give it a shot.

I like to stay at the Sig. I like the jetted tub, DVD player to watch movies while I eat, and the convenience of being able to cook meals in my room if I wish. I usually order groceries from vons.com before I leave for Vegas so they are there when I arrive. I have a couple drinks in my room before going out which saves me some money.

We like staying at the Marriott Grand Chateau when in Vegas. I like the coffee maker. They have a shuttle to the grocery store.

I do not cook, but we often do bring food into the room. We are on vacation. It is good for my extreme diet. I like it

We often stay in Hotels in Vegas, read all my reviews. the Timeshare is so much bigger.

Have fun

Have stayed at condo, timeshares many times in Vegas. Non-smoking and lots of room at the pools they usually have. Also the extra room in the suite, separate bedrooms and full kitchens come in handy to store drinks and food.

The cost of the condo for the week has always been cheaper then the hotel rooms. The Carriage House/Jockey club/ Hilton at the flamingo are 3 that are right on the strip.

A little further south, 5 miles south of the strip(recommend a car rental) is the Grandview at LasVegas right beside the South point casino. All these are very nice and offer lots of room over a regular hotel room.

Great when you are travelling with friends, some have 2 bedroom suites which are great.

We've stayed at Polo Towers a couple times. Tower 2 has views North or South depending on which side of the hall. Close walk to the strip through the Hawaiian Marketplace or around the back into the side of the Miracle Mile shops. Don't really cook, but the kitchen is nice for leftovers for lunch.
