Somebody please explain how Comps work?

I will be staying at Aria for my first time, and I am wondering how comps work. I will probably be playing blackjack for about $100.00 a hand. I am wondering how I redeem comps or even how to receive them.

In Atlantic City, I usually tell the pit boss I am hungry and interested in trying a restaurant and he prints out a coupon and I take that. Is this the same? Do you earn comp dollars as well, that can be applied to your hotel room? Should I charge all dining to the room and maybe have comps applied at checkout? Just curious how it all works in Vegas. Thanks!

In the casino, sign up for a player's card. Takes 5 minutes. They'll give you a plastic card with your name on it.

When you sit down to play, hand the dealer that card. The PB will take it, punch your info into the computer and as long as you're sitting & playing, they'll be recording your play -- they track your average bet and the amount of time that you play.

After racking up some play -- and especially as you check out of the hotel -- check back at the player's club and ask them if you've earned any comps.

At your level of play, depending on how many hours you play, they are likely to introduce you to a host who will organize your comps.

So should we charge food and beverages to the room? Also, how long before I check out should I visit the players club? Is this something I would do on the way to checkout and head to the airport, or should I go an hour or more before we check out so they can "organize" my comps?

The best thing for you to do is to talk to a host at Aria. You can call ahead of time and touch base, make personal contact once you arrive in LV.

Rarely can the PB issue a meal comp for basic player's club members. Once you talk to a host you will know how the Aria systems works, and more specifically, works for you.

Always check that your play has been recorded properly before you leave the table.

$100 a hand blackjack might not get much at Aria, it does not at the upper tier casinos. Since you will be playing at an MLife casino talk to the host about how playing at Aria only v spreading play around MLife will affect your comps.

Of course you don;t play for comps. Knowing how the system works if you are playing helps you decide how/where to play.

If your play in AC warrants a host and they have a reciprocal agreement with MLife in LV has your host make the introduction.

I have always declined talking to a host in AC, they have asked me to, but I never really had the time and also didn't understand what it would do for me, as I was already getting free meal, rooms, and "comp points" to spend at the casino.

Before checking out I dial the operator from the room phone, I ask to be transferred to the players club, instead of having to go there in person, I simply say, we are getting ready to check out, will you please check our play, I've only used express comps a couple of times towards charges, usually our meals are comped off instead of my express comps being deducted from my account, show tickets are comped in advance, although lately it's been free play and food & beverage credits only, who knows what comps will be like in the future! I'm platinum and I'm sure as hell not going to break the bank to get to Noir, which ALMOST offers the same benefits as a platinum member to get to one million tier credits, it's just not worth the comps too me anymore.

"...but I never really had the time..." You don't have 10 minutes to talk to a host, yet you spend more than that asking strangers? Mind-boggling.

"...also didn't understand what it would do for me..." the reason for spending 10 minutes talking to a host.

You might not derive any benefit from having a host due to your level of play. Of course the only way to know is to ask. I understand we all have busy lives. Ten minutes of your time might prove worthwhile.

Beg to differ but at Aria they may not being willing to talk to you ahead of time and will see what you play while there before they decide about comps. However, if you had a host in AC am sure they would recipricate ahead on some level. At your level of play it seems to me the deciding factor is how many hours you play at that level. Believe me I am no expert. If it were me I would check thoughout the trip with the players club desk to see what is accumulating and if at any point they want to indroduce you to a host.

I didn't realize it is a ten minute meeting. I was always asked when I was checking out and ready to hit the road and beat the traffic home. I don't consider myself to be a big gambler, and like I said, I was already given meals and rooms for free. I didn't see the need to have a "meeting".

Losvu: Your attitude is "mind-boggling". This is a forum where you ask questions....pretty mind boggling concept huh?
