downtown help

Thanks to this forum- I felt like I knew everything about the strip when we arrived for our first visit last september! 12 days until we return and I want to spend some time dowtown. But I havent seen a lot of info/tips for freemont?

What time do the light shows start? Any areas we should avoid? Must see or do attractions? Any good players club that would make it worth signing up for?

Anything else you wish you knew before your first visit?

If you haven't seen info on downtown you've not looked. It's mentioned often.

I do not like downtown so I will leave casino and other info to others.

I do like both museums and Triple George, the only reasons for me to go downtown.

Many will say the gambling is better downtown. Beware. That is not true.

The light show has a website.

It is Fremont, not Freemont.

I just realized you're the person who was full of nonesense when claiming your room was broken into while at PH. You complained about risk management, etc.

I will say if you had that hard a time understanding the system and process and ranted about it like you did here on TA downtown is not for you.

I love downtown so here goes:

Light shows are every hour until midnight

They have good entertainment with live bands at center stage

We park at Fremont Hotel using valet, walk through hotel and stay on Fremont street experience. We avoid any questionable areas. There's lots to do right there.

I got the players card Fremont, Main Street and Califorina Hotel. One card for all 3 hotels.

Have fun!

I love downtown and the strip. We usually try to spend the weekend downtown and them move to the strip for the weeknights. As far as safety goes, you are fine from Main Street Station through Fremont East. You can spend time at the Mob Museum and Neon Museum. DuPar's (coffee shop at back of Golden Gate) has excellent pancakes. The buffets at MSS and Fremont are a good value, and your BConnected player's card will get you a $1 discount.

A good visit to downtown could be; Head downtown in the afternoon to visit the Mob Museum (and/or Neon Museum). Go have supper (we enjoyed GN’s Grotto). Then enjoy the Fremont Street Experience (overhead canopy light show and live bands), while checking out all the casino’s downtown, if you don’t like one, you can be in another casino in thirty seconds. Try Mermaids Casino, get your beads as you go in and sample their $0.99 deep fried twinkies and oreos, and old school slot machines using coins. A must try for some! Cheers.
