Golden Nugget Room Choices

The GN has about six different "levels" of room quality. Can anyone sort or the difference or recommend the best level to get. My requirements are -- 2 queen, or 2 doubles, non-smoking, and I don't want to hear the Fremont Experience.

Forgot to mention than Rush Tower is indeed non smoking and I think only offers one bed only, not two. And in all my stays there at both Carson and Rush towers so far, I have never heard the FSE shows from the rooms.

I've stayed in the Gold Tower before, and while the room itself wasn't bad, it was definitely showing its age (I assume the Carson Tower rooms are as well). In particular, the air conditioner was horribly loud, like what you'd find in a Motel 6 in the 70's. It's possible I just got unlucky and got a room with a broken air conditioner, but I wouldn't bet on it.

The Rush Tower is indeed much newer and nicer than either Carson or Gold, and has some of the best rooms you'll find downtown. The Spa Tower has suites that will rival anything you'll find on the Strip, but expect to pay dearly for them - I don't know if I've ever seen them go on sale.

i have stayed in a Gold tower room overlooking the pool. It was quiet, and the AC worked well.

My Carson tower room had a view of a roof, and the AC unit was very difficult to regulate.

Last visit I splurged and stayed in a gold club room. Nonsmoking floor. No smell. Room overlooked the pool and I didn't notice the Fremont noise. You pay an extra $30 for the club level and that gets you spa entry, some cut line privileges, coffee and water. also gets you on a nonsmoking floor and a room that is very similar to the Rush room with a big TV and a small tv built into the mirror in the bathroom. Also get treats like chocolate in the hallway by the elevator. And VIP check in though I was not that impressed with that aspect of it. bathroom is long and narrow. tub is nothing special. windows (like rest of the hotel) is too small for my tastes - I like daylight in the morning. I have also stayed in the Carson rooms twice before and thought they were nice too. Next trip I plan on staying the the Rush tower to check that out.

Breeze - it probably does take that long, especially since you would need to make a rest stop and have lunch on the way! lol

We've stayed in all types of rooms there about 40 times - Rush Tower has only one king bed per room in all the rooms so could never work for the OP. I have never had a problem with smoke or street noise at Golden Nugget. The casino is between the sleeping rooms of Gold and Carson towers, so it is set back from any noise from Fremont St. We have never had any maintenance problems in any room except a flat screen TV that was not working properly. When we called the desk about it a knock on our door came so quickly it was almost spooky- and a very apologetic technician quickly rectified the minor problem. Likewise when I was once not sure how to reset their alarm clock- a helper came immediately.

Can't imagine any smoke seeping into your room- the couple of floors above the casino are offices meeting rooms- and the smoke control throughout the property is excellent anyway.

My only annoyance is the time share shills in the Carson lobby and at the Fremont St exit and we have learned to ignore them and keep walking.
