Las Vegas to San Fransico

Hi, I have searched a lot on this trip, but would love some feedbad as not sure if we have enough time.

We are arriving in Las Vegas at 10:am, after we pick up our car we heading to San Francisco we want to be in San Franciso the next day by supper.

As we are not sure how long we can make it on the first day, would you recommend Yosemite, or going by Bakerfield. We would love to go via yosemite, just not sure on the time, and perfer not to make reservations as not sure where we would stop for the first over nitght. Thanks.

When is this? Tioga Pass into Yosemite shuts down in winter and usually opens around May, sometimes June.In that case you need to go around via the central valley.

Why are you flying into Vegas and driving to SF? Why not just fly directly there? Especially if its before Tioga Pass has opened? Even then, you could fly into SF and then drive to Yosemite and have more time there. I lived in Bakersfield several years, and have driven this entire stretch to Vegas and to SF and there's nothing to see that makes it worth that drive if you have to go through Bakersfield.

thanks, but we are on a trip that will include several citys on the west coast and our final days back in Las Vegas, this if firm. we are travelling on Jun 30 so pretty sure it will be open. My question is since we have 1 1/2 days, what would be the best route, my concern was not having enought time to cross Yosemite, or finding it hard to get a hotel without reservations.

By far the fastest way to get to SF from Las Vegas is by taking Hwy 5. The coastal route is much more scenic, but should be done in at least 2 days. Where you can get there in 10 hours if traffic cooperates the more direct route.

We drove from SF to Vegas a few days ago, it was a long boing drive.

We left at 11.00am and arrived in vegas at 8.00am, we drove straight through stopping for fuel once at Bakersfield

Just do the drive in one day, there is nothing to see or do that would make it worth staying anywhere in between overnight

Thank you Blaqjaq84, because we have an early flight out of Ottawa Can at 6AM and with the time change it would be to much to drive in one day. You made really good time, which means we may be able to get closes to San Francisoc than expected whch will work out fine.
