Free drinks

If a person is playing the slot machines, are all drinks free? Alcoholic? Non-alcoholic? Sodas? Coffee?

Drinks of all kinds are free when you're gambling although what's available in terms of premium drinks will vary by casino - remember to tip the cocktail waitress at least $1 per drink.

I found that when I was there, and this was at the MGM.... Alc drinks (well to be honest drinks of any kind) were hard to get even if you were at the tables or slot machines... waitress were around but never stop to take an order and when they did it took a good 30min for them to return with the drink and then they still asked for payment for the drink.... Even at the bar when I was sitting play the video poker the bar tender would look at the credits on the screen before comp'ing me a drink..... I had $40 into a video poker at the bar with $5 left and he looks over at the screen and sees the $5 credits left and says "sorry, that will be what ever the price was for the drink" I never got one free drink the whole time I was there.... So for my 2cents, don't count on free anything.

Typically your drinks are free when gambling. I play the slots and when the cw brings my drink I tip her five dollars to make sure she hurrys back. When she brings drinks for my wife and I ,I will keep tipping her five dollars. They stop often and its still only 2.50 per drink. Good deal

All of the drinks you listed are free while gambling. As mentioned, tip the waitress for each drink she brings you. I always order a bottle of water with each alcoholic drink I get. Timeliness of drink service varies greatly between properties or even within the same property at different times of the day. BTW, you can bet 1 cent per spin or $3.00 per spin; the $ amount you are gambling doesn't determine what kind of service you get (unless you are in the high limit area, which I assume has good service at all times).

HuggyD: you just had some bad luck for sure. I've never been asked to pay for a drink when a cocktail waitress offers. In regard to playing VP at the bar, I have always assumed the drink would be free as long as I'm playing and the bartender has always comped them. Sounds like you just got a grumpy bartender.

DianeCdreaming: don't forget the advice of at least $1 tip per drink, regardless if it's alcoholic or not. The waitress still has to do the same amount of work to get the drink to you.

Have fun!

The drinks don't flow as much as they used to. Ive heard of places not giving slots players drinks if they aren't playing enough credits.

I realize the point of Vegas is to get all your money but if they start messing with free drinks that will be it for me. I always prepare to lose very cent I gamble but I accept it because at least I can get hammered for cheap while doing it.

If Im losing AND paying 8 bucks for a beer then ill be on the next flight out.

i am not a VP expert but i understand that some VP bars will require you to play Max credits.

I am sure someone will come on with more info about that.

but in regards to the slots or the tables i have never been asked to pay and i have never had to wait 30 mins for a drink

My last trip in October i found the drink service to be the the best ever

The Pallazo I had extremely slow to non-existent CW service.

Most casinos Sitting at VP bar, they have asked me to be betting Max Credits.

The best service i get tends to be when horse betting and when playing rapid roulette and poker.. The drinks tend to come quicker than I can drink them...

Huggy, that's BS. Although I know of a friend who didn't get comped if he wasn't playing max on the VP machines . As far as paying the waitress while at a table game, I would be gone. If Vegas started charging for drinks, I wouldn't go, period.

Always got great service when playing poker and craps. Not so much for slots, although, I dont play slots for too long of periods.

There was actually an interesting article posted sometime ago about the strategy to getting free drinks.lol. Its based on time of day and observing the areas and being mindful of where CW are working before you play.
