which is more convenient, for the glitz?

i can't decide between The Orleans or Circus Circus. Both room rate is about the same..

some questions:

1. can i walk from circus circus (1 end of strip) to Tropicana Ave (which is at the other end), where the bigger giants such as MGM, Treasure island and Aladdin are? How long does the journey take, by foot?

2. Orleans provide shuttle service, if i walk by foot, can i reach the strip? how long is the journey?

3. Orleans is off the strip, will the nitelife be quiet since it's off the strip?

i'm travelling with mum (who don't walk long journey) and enjoy the glam and glitz, appreciate your recommendations, thanks.

re day trips

will i get better rate if i book the day tour to grand canyon only when i reach there? any good website to recommend?

If you are going today through Sept., you are not going to walk from CC to MGM and with"mum" you are not going to like the walk from Orleans to strip. We are talking 100-120 degrees!

How long if you walk it? Depends on the others out there. It takes a good 30 minutes @ a brisk pace to get from CC to MGM. Orleans is you better bet.

If you enjoy the glam and the glitz as you say, then I would suggest staying on the strip. Center strip would be best for your mother. She could see a lot without walking too far. I would check out the prices for Barbary Coast, Bally's and Flamingo.

Of these two, Orleans is by far the better choice. They're both a few miles from the middle of the glitz, but Orleans is a far superior property and but it has a regular free shuttle bus to midstrip where the glitz is.

Circus RULES! I would absolutely stay there! Wonderful rooms! Escpecially the manor rooms! And the Casino, well, it's amazing. The Steakhouse is teriible, but the pink pony is one of the finest restaurants you wil lsee in Las Vegas! Right up there with Sizzler!

Seriously, Orleans is awesome, Circus is a dump. You decide...

Please, please, please don't take mum to Circus Circus. To quote the previous poster, it's a dump.

Check out Flamingo or Barbary Coast for affordable center strip. (Barbary Coast does not have a pool). Monte Carlo, while farther south, is relatively affordable.

Is this a serious question? There is no comparison between the two.

I have very very low standards and Circus Circus made my stomach turn when I went in it for the first time fifteen years ago. Now, consider that casinos age in dog years and you'll see that nowadays CC is similar to an incontinent 17 year old Pekinese with mange. To follow this analogy, The Orleans is like a well groomed 8 year old bull mastiff. Workman-like and efficient, if unspectacular. Ok...I have no idea what I'm talking about at this point. Oh yeah, stay at The Orleans and take the shuttle to the Strip. CC is ok to visit, if you happen to be nearby, to check out the trapeze things before you visit SlotsAFun for your dollar 1lb. hot dog and draft beer, but no need to actually, like, sleep there and stuff.

The Orleans is a far better hote. I consider CC one of the worst hotels on the strip. You will not be able to walk from the Orleans to the strip. They do have a free shuttle that starts at 9:30 and ends about midnight. After that you will have to take a cab to get back. The Orleans is a very nice hotel but I don't think of it in terms of glam or glitz. They do have shows but it is usually some of the older performers-sort of oldies but goodies! They also have a fairly nice lounge. For glam and/or glitz you need to get to the strip.

Orleans by a mile. Or two miles, which is both the distance from Orleans to the Strip AND the distance from Circus to Tropicana Ave

Circus isn't the place to look for glitz.....or anyplace else. Previous posters are correct, you'd do way better than CC by choosing absolutely ANY hotel between TI/Venetian and the Tropicana
