Where is the tunnel you all talk about

We are in Las Vegas at the moment and haven't seen this tunnel that you all talk about from the airport. Just wondering where is it?

It's as you leave the airport. It goes under the Mccarran runways and takes you onto the I 15 freeway.

It's under the city street filled with hundreds of homeless, porn slappers, and grungy costumed artists. The Tunnel Buffet is pretty good

The tunnel is the taxis friend and unsuspecting tourist nightmare.

Oddly enough, from Terminal 3, for our Hawaiian Airlines flights, the tunnel to Flamingo for the Palms, Rio, and Gold Coast is a better route.......but that's just if you're arriving or departing from Terminal 3! It rarely makes sense from Terminal 1.

It takes you to the 215 freeway (not the 15)where you can take it either East or West.

From the 215 you can connect to the 15 either north or south.

Its more of an underpass then a tunnel. Most people could go through it and not even realize it. If you pull up a Google satellite map of the airport its the portion of Paradise (171) that goes under the runway.

Do we want to avoid this or take this route as far as taxi fare to the strip? Does it make it cheaper or not make a difference?

If you are heading to a strip hotel you want to avoid it if possible. It will add $10+ onto your cab fare. Not a huge deal, but they are still ripping you off. They will tell you that the strip is busy and the Freeway is quicker. Tell them to take Koval instead.

I didn't realize it went under the runway! Weird! Last trip was the first time I had ever seen the tunnel... but we were on a shuttle (headed to North Strip so it didn't matter). It was interesting seeing the back of the casinos & the signs and everything from the freeway.
