Where to stay?

We've been to Las Vegas half a dozen times and stayed at various strip hotels Luxor, LVH, MGM, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Four Seasons. Our favorite has been the Four Seasons and had some great upgrades with the $20 tip trick at LVH and Mandalay Bay. It seems we always end out at one end of the strip or the other. We are looking for a nice pool area, mid strip, casino experience not too far away and a nice room. We are staying during the week in May and I thought I should be able to get some great rates at nicer places. Not finding that much. I have narrowed it down to the Monte Carlo strip view or Signature Suites lower floor strip view studio with balcony. The Signature is through VRBO which I have never done. The renter has all 5 star ratings from over 70 reviewers. I have never rented and am a little gun shy. The prices are comparable. Any thoughts?

I've stayed at the Monte Carlo a couple of times and enjoyed my stay. The pool area I thought was crowded.

The Signature will be a little removed from the action but that my be a good thing. I have some friends that only stay at the Signature for the relaxed atmosphere and nice pool.

The Mirage might be another option.

Thanks for the input. The price isn't so good at the mirage for our dates and I found it just okay when we stayed there. I'm leaning towards the signature as I've found myself enjoying the nicer rooms. My husband would like to be closer to a casino (may not be the best idea for the pocketbook).

My input is in regard to VRBO. I've never used them for a Vegas stay, but I have used them twice for other vacations, and both instances were very positive experiences - no complaints whatsoever. Of course, alot depends on the personalities of the private owners themselves, but I just thought I'd let you know about my VRBO experiences, which were very good. :-)

VBRO is great, but Hilton Grand Vacations is a better option. I stayed there last week behind Flamingo and really enjoyed it. I am owner, but also rent weeks or part weeks (3 nights / 4 nights) using Redweek.com.

HGVC had view over Flamingo pools, access to Flamingo pools, own private pool (small) open late, gym, indoor & outdoor hot tub. My apartment was just like a modern home with a full kitchen, all granite countertops, tub for 2, maybe 4, etc. the valet had my car for me within minutes anytime day or night.

I would look into renting there instead, or staying over a Vdara or Aria. I have also stayed Bellagio, nice, and Cosmopolitan, but service remains lacking at Cosmopolitan, at least in the casino area.

Another idea is the Hilton Elara behind Planet Hollywood. Currently in transition from management by Westgate to Hilton. I want to try a stay there for furture trip soon.
