First Time

To cheer up my daughter, her Marine husband is being deployed for the month of July, her mother in law and I were thinking of bringing her to Vegas for a quick weekend, since none of us have been here before, where is a nice place to stay, doesn't have to be a 5 star, but something with a really nice pool and on the strip, since its July I don't think we will be doing a lot of walking, just want to have a nice fun weekend, this is her first time of him being deployed and we just want to cheer her up some!!

If the pool is the priority then I would say Caesers or Monte Carlo or MGM or Mandalay Bay. For location I would go with Caesars. Personally I dont mind some of the smaller pools because I dont like to feel crammed in. So even Ballys suits me. Im sure you will still do a lot of walking, even in the heat. You can always duck into a casino when the heat gets to be too much. There are also some misters along certain stretches of sidewalk that feel good. have fun

If I may make a suggestion: Instead of coming in Friday and leaving Sunday, if possible change your trip to arrive Sunday and leave Wednesday (I know I threw in an extra night). Those 3 nights might cost HALF of what it will cost for Friaday/Saturday nights.

I promise you will have just as much fun.

If you are looking for a great pool - my personal favorite is at the Luxor. It a large expansive area and has a lot of room to spread out. They have some great daybeds and cabana's too ( which, by the way, are also less expensive weekday vs. weekend )

I also like that you can walk between Mandalay Bay and Excalibur without having to walk outside at night.

Rooms are nice but nothing fancy. The tower rooms are a bit more updated vs. the pryamid rooms. And again, because you can walk between the 3 hotels easily you have a lot of drinking and dining options.

I would recommend Mirage, Caesars, Bellagio (depending on budget), or Monte Carlo. All have nice pool areas and are situated well on the strip IMO :) Check smartevegas.com for good deals- you might find a deal with a show included!

For a Cirque show go to LOVE - the cheapest seats are better than some of the more expensive ones. Also try Jersey Boys a great musical.

the wynn/ encore and palazzo or venetian are your better hotels for what your looking for

and i cant see how anyone can say the cheapest seats are better than the more expensive seats

for any kind of show,,,,, your best seats are 4 to 6 rows from stage and center row,, where you can see the face or faces of performers
