I just stayed for the first time. Caesars is my usual choice.

It was what I expected. Go room in habitat tower nice, clean, spacious. Elevators dated, carpet not perfect in hallways.

Great staff in my experience. Cafe near the habitat was great. Pool was young and fun. October, pool should be open but possibly quite cold.

I didn't eat any meals at flamingo. Nothing appealed to me.

Don't expect the ritz and you'll be fine. My review should be up soon.

It is the opinion of the TA forums that has kept me away from the Flamingo. You just don't see many trip reports from people who have stayed at the Flamingo. Those I have read always mention a beautiful pool and cheap room rates. And the pool in October can be one of the best months of the year. Temp closer to the 80s with no clouds and very little humidity.

Ignore the Flamingo haters on this forum, most have never stayed there, yet post about it.

Have you looked at the reviews, there are almost 8000 reviews and about 6000 are rated average to excellent, that 75% that liked staying there.

And keep in mind, every resort has people that had bad experiences and rate them badly, including Bellagio, Wynn, etc.

Great location, great pool, good rates but would only stay in a Go room. Others are below average for the price.

First these reviews go back 10 years. I'd look at the more recent ones--many of them are scathing. Also when you read "average" reviews you'll find that about half of them are negative. LV is a place where you can get a pretty nice room for half, or less, than what it would be elsewhere. Also the casino itself is a smoky dump and as people point out in the reviews; good luck trying to get a lounge at the pool.

Couple points:

Rooms have all now been renovated. None of the old rooms left. (?)

Cheapest place to book this is the British Airways site as booking there includes taxs and the resort fee. All example dates I checked it was cheaper there than any direct promo. Note ba site shows total price for all nights while most other sites show per night.

Get a Go Room and you will have a great time. There are Flamingo haters on this forum, but I really have to wonder when was the last time they actually stayed there. Last year we stayed at Caesars and the Flamingo. Which one would I return to? The Flamingo. And we had a superb room at Caesars (Augustus Tower w/view). I guess I'm just riff-raff at heart. Actually, the logistics of the Flamingo are just a lot easier and I prefer the casino over Caesars any day and if I don't want to play there, I'm out the door and on the strip in a minute or two.

Have fun on your trip!

I really like the Flamingo. I am going next week and have 3 nights at the Bellagio, but have double booked the second night at the Flamingo. What do I like about it:

The vibe. It's more "old" Vegas.

I like the natural light that comes into the casino.

Location, location, location.

The habitat. One of my favorite places in Las Vegas.

Nickel VP machines.

I guess, to me, it's like putting on a pair of old warm fuzzy slippers. It's familiar.

I don't do pools, so I can't offer much input there. I would agree though. that a GO room is a must.

Early October is almost always good pool weather. I've been several times in late October when it was too cold to swim (though folks from the UK have a better tollerance for cold swiming than Americans.)
