First time in Vegas, hotel bookings?

Me and my partner have booked our flight to Vegas this September, we haven't booked a hotel though yet. Should we wait until last minute or do it asap? Are there any deals that we could find last minute? Any tips? Offers/discounts?

If you're booking direct with a hotel, no reason not to book now if you see rates you're happy with. Keep checking rates as they can fluctuate considerably and should they drop for your dates, call the hotel and they'll adjust your reservation accordingly. If you find something you like better elsewhere, cancel your reservation.

Check out smartervegas.com for hotel deals.

Also check lasvegasadvisor.com for discount codes. Book something refundable and keep checking. I've had trips where I rebooked numerous times including just days before going. OTOH, I've had trips where I booked six months out and never found a better deal.

Follow the advise of the above posts. Book now - directly with the hotel (use promo codes from smartervegas.com or earlyvegas.com) for additional savings. Keep checking rates and call/email for adjustments if they get lower. If you find something somewhere else that you like better, book that and cancel the original reservation.

There is always hotel slot and casino players slot for the room allotments.

The player rated gamblers show up the last minutes, the worst ones call from the McCarran Airport demanding the limo ride to the casino.

They are not predictable. Even the very booked holidays and weekends, after say 1 a.m., the resorts have to get rid of the rooms they did not fill. They are often lower rates, used to be the casino rates.

It is Vegas after all, try this gamble?

I had friends come visit to the town, and then the front desk could not find the reservations even with the confirmation numbers, I could put them in the room this way.

Since you don't have any experience with the various hotels, you can do a search on TripAdvisor for Las Vegas hotels and the results will come up ranked based on TripAdvisor reader reviews. The ratings are based on amenities, the experience and perceived value. While the 4Seasons and Mandarin Orientals are near the top of the heap, there will be some hotels high on the list that will surprise you. Try it and then go to smartervegas for the promo codes for that hotel.

You can also check on Bookit.com, as they are currently running half off specials at a lot of the "hotels" around Las Vegas.

Book direct and do it now. It will allow free cancellation. Then keep an eyeout because the best deals usually come out about a month or so before.
