2 bedroom suite?

I'm looking for a 2 bedroom suite for 2 older couples. Aria SkySuites seemed nice and new, but they're sold out throughout my stay.

I've tentatively booked at the Bellagio (2BR PH suite), but the pictures look old and dingy. The price is too good to be true, so I'm guessing that the suites are in need of an upgrade. The reservation person told me they were updated 4 years ago, but I read online that some have been updated more recently. Are there other suites at Bellagio that have been recently renovated and is it possible to request one? How are the beds there? I don't want anything that's very smoky; how is Bellagio at granting a nonsmoking request?

Should I scrap the suite idea and get two regular rooms somewhere? The Mandarin Oriental is on my list, but I would ideally like something with a casino if I can find something clean, upscale, and not too smoky.

Thanks for the advice. Is Mandarin Oriental my best bet for clean luxury on the strip? I'll admit, the perks of a suite are enticing (lounge, breakfast, wet bar, airport transfer) but I didn't want to stay in something old or smelly. 2 rooms at MO are more expensive than the Bellagio suite, probably for a reason...

We have stayed in the two bedroom suites at Bellagio many times. Always when we have a guest with us. Otherwise a one bedroom suite. We have stayed in one twice this year and will be returning to one next month with guests. The suites we stayed in have been renovated. We always stay in the main tower. I am not positive, but I dont believe the spa tower had two bedroom suites. I have found the beds to be very comfortable and the suites were non smoking. Casino smoke seems to depend on the individual. I do not find it bothersome at the Bellagio. We qualify as an older couple. We love that we can step off the elevator straight to the casino floor as well close to Palio's for quick food and the pool avoiding the casino area.

Hotel 32 has got some very good reviews. The penthouse looks great from the website and it should be cheaper than Bellagio or MO. The drawback is you are staying at the Monte Carlo.

The PH Suites in the main (original) tower have all been renovated in the last year. You fears are groundless. Go for it.

Thanks for all of the replies! This is making me re-think my decision to switch to Mandarin Oriental. I like the perks of Bellagio and the price is right. I wonder why the reservation guy said the Bellagio suites were updated 4 years ago. There are some other recent pics on line that show older-looking suites.

You can maybe try Elara, (sans PH Towers). They have traditional 2 bedroom suites. It isd a nice property.

Elara looks nice, but I was hoping for something more upscale.

The updated Bellagio pics are actually of a 1-bedroom Bellagio suite, not of the Penthouse suite. It seems like the Penthouse suites have yet to be updated. The reservation people at Bellagio are not very helpful. It seems like they'll tell you anything to sell the room. I can't get a straight answer on when different categories of rooms were updated. I think all of the basic rooms are updated, which is a plus, but why not update the Penthouse suites? Seems weird. Apparently the Bellagio suites have been updated, so I may book 2 of those, but I'm not sure what amenities I'll miss out on (i.e. lounge access, limo transfer, etc.).

The MO is still on my list, and I'm starting to look into the Four Seasons (although the location is not great).
