Staying on comps without playing casino?

I have 3 comp nights Venetian / Palazzo, & 2 comp nights Mandalay, through end of year that can use, plus some at Mirage if want.

Kids want to go back to Las Vegas, but this time I plan not to gamble, but rather to take them to the shows they want to see like Mac King, Terry Fator, Jeff Civillico, V Ultimate Variety Show, Adam London, La Reve, Mystere again, & do other fun stuff like the Eiffel Tower, Mandalay pool, etc.

I have been getting free rooms for over 15 years. If use the comp rooms without playing casino for the 5 comped, will these offers end? I usually always play in the casino, but want to focus on doing only the kid stuff this next trip.

You will burn your future comps if you don't play on a comped trip.Comps are given assuming you will maintain or improve on past play.

A long play history may save some comps, but a zero play trip is very bad for future comps.

This is where you take a stand. Don't let the powers that be dictate how you lead your life or raise your family. To me, there is nothing to agonize over; the decision is obvious: leave the children home and continue to gamble like the dickens to keep those comps coming!

Problem is that I have no one to leave kids with, since all their grandparents have passed & we are older parents in our 50's. If could leave with husband, I would, but he is in rehab program right now :(

If you want to get comp offers in the future at the level you're used to, I suggest that you make a regular hotel reservation for this trip. That way you'll be under no pressure whatsoever to gamble. If you do play a little, don't use your players card.

Or if you have a host, it may just be worth contacting them. If your playing history is very strong and you explain the circumstances of this trip, they may comp you the room anyway as a goodwill gesture knowing you'll be gambling again on future trips.

This is a wonderful chance for them to learn self-reliance at a young age.

I kid, of course.

Good luck with the rehab, and have fun!

Please dont take your kids into the casino. If you are even tempted to do it, which I know you will at some point, dont. As for comps, there are a ton of variables, none bigger than recent gambling history. You are definitely leaving future comps to chance.

I'd say don't do it if you want to keep your comps. I went on a comped offer in September. Got comped two nights even though I planned to stay only one (I wanted the room because we were flying out later at night). I guess I didn't play to my normal level on that last day and my comps have really dried up. I regret keeping the room- should have just checked my bags.

Of course, this is anecdotal- maybe you play more than I do in general and they'll overlook it.

Exactly 100% what Blagger said.

Either pay for the room and don't use your card if you gamble, or take the comp and play near your normal amount.

Not only that, but if you make a paid reservation, I'm not totally sure you should have your players club # associated with it, because it still could end up on their books as a no-play stay. You would lose the tier credits associated with the hotel spend, but it might be worth it. Maybe someone can clarify that.

A host can consider your 15 year history, assuming it exists in their system, but the normal systems I'm familiar with only look at the last few years or trips when generating offers, so a no-play trip will definitely affect the offers that are system-generated.

Recently a poster was "scolded" (for a lack of a better word) because she was using a MyVegas reward for a free room but she didn't plan to gamble there, this is in the same category, you are getting a free room but don't want to gamble with them and that is wrong. They are comping your room with the expectation of you gambling with them."Biting the hand that feeds you" is not the best idea and you in return will end up being bitten by having your comps reduced and eliminated and rightfully so.Follow blaggers advice and pay for your room it will be better in the long run.Better to pay for your room once than having to pay more often in the future because you had your comps reduced

Some fake beards and white wigs and the kids can be earning their own comps.
