Third Eye Blind will be performing on Fremont at 9pm on Aug 17th, it's free to the public, it's in collaboration with "Rock of Vegas Concert Series.

Thanks for sharing.

I haven't listened to them in YEARS! Wow! How my taste in music has changed, even then might still be worth checking out.

Tonya, my taste has changed as well...lol! I'm a Rat Pack type person, along with Elvis, Motown, oldies, to even jazz...lol!

I thought this would be interesting for someone who might enjoy a free concert from a fairly well known band, I found this by doing research on my own that I will share below, okay wait a sec! Also a few things some board members had previously shared as well...lol

On our up coming trip staying on the strip, we are planning a day on Fremont just to hang out, so what we've come up with in looking at each individual website of the different properties.

1. El Cortez...Flame Steakhouse has anyone dined here before and your thoughts?

2. The D....American Coney Island for a quick bite, what are your thoughts?

3. Four Queens...Chicago Brewing Co. states they have thee famous homemade root beer, hey I'm up for that! Also Hugo's Cellar, now this place sounds like "Old Vegas" and a place I would love to try, How is the food?

4. Smith Center...I would love to check out this place, maybe see Wizard of Oz, I know what a kid huh! $29 a ticket you can't go that wrong for that price.

5.Binions...Now a board member (I forgot the name, my apologies) she stated she had dined here and it was really good, you can dine on the 24th floor and it shows a beautiful view of the Vegas valley, what are thoughts from others who have dined here, this would be a different experience for us. also at Binions, they have a Dunkin Donuts, Oh Yum! I love their coffee

6.Golden Gate...Dupars Restaurant and Bakery, for breakfast or perhaps a shrimp cocktail

7. California....Pasta Pirate, what are your thoughts?

8. Main Street Station....We love the triple 7, but we've done this already

Yup, just a bit in change in music. ;) For me it's country music hahaha. But I'm sure the hubby will want to check out the free show just because we can ;)

I can't help you with any of those restaurants because I haven't been to any (besides Triple 7). If you don't get answers here you might have to create a new topic so people can see it.

I'll add that I'm also waiting on an answer from flightlinez/the zipline on Fremont, since my DH is wanting to do this, we can't seem to get any clear answer as to when this will reopen...I hate when a company says leave a message! there ought to be a person manning the phones!

Let's see, I have dined at many of these places... and can give you my opinions.

The Flame is OK, I would go back with a coupon for sure. My steak there was OK, but the sides (mashed potatoes and mac-n-cheese) were great and I really like the "Garbage salad" they have.

I haven't been to Hugo's in years, but it is pretty good for the money and is definitely "Old Vegas." I have a review posted in my profile. Chicago brewing Company has good pizza, haven't tried the root beer.

When we stay downtown we go to Dupar's for breakfast at least once. If you like pancakes, they have the best ones I have ever tasted. I'm not a big pancake person, so I usually get an omelet with sourdough toast and snag one of my husband's pancakes.

Haven't tried Pasta Pirate, but I am curious!

I can give you my thought on some of these places:

Flame Steakhouse. I have gone here several times. I got the lobster tail and hubby got a steak. Both were fabulous. We used a $25 off coupon that we got from the American Casino Guide. (not sure if they still have it) so prices were very very reasonable. Service was outstanding. It's an "old school" Steakhouse. I would recommend. Get the creamed corn. I have never tasted anything like it. The sides are large enough for 2. Last I looked they no longer had the Lobster tail. :-(

American Coney Island. Just ok for me. I thought it was pricey for just a hotdog and fries. Hubby liked it more than me.

Dupars. This also was just ok for me. I didn't think it was anything special. I have heard they have great pancakes although I didn't order them.

Pasta Pirate. I got a steak and lobster special here. Not very good. Maybe the pasta is better.

Smith Center. Vivalasvegas did a trip report with photos and reviewed this. You may find out more by reading his report.

You may want to try the coffee shop at the California (Market Street Cafe) They have a prime rib special for $7.99 with everything included. We ate there and got full dinners with a salad bar for about $8 and the food was good and the salad bar was really fresh and good. Couldn't beat the price. They have different specials everyday and everyone raves about their oxtail soup.

Also the brunch on the weekends at Main Street Station is good and you used to be able to get BOGO with your players card.

Also the new Downtown Grand will be opened soon and it looks like it will be really nice.

you guys are awesome! I always come up with titles that make no sense, I wasn't getting much feedback, so I made another thread, sorry for being redundant, I tend to get like that at times...lol! my apologies, also thank you guys for the feedback, it really seems like Flame gets pretty good ratings. I'll check out the reviews later on this place.

chachakaboom is there really something called a "garbage salad" or am I really being stupid?

As for the zipline, BF and I did some googling the other night and seems its not finished yet and wont be open to the public till early fall, I'm super disappointed as that was on my bucket list :(

Re: garbage salad--Hehe, yes, I googled it to make sure I was getting it right. My husband and I call it "Garbage Truck" salad when we make it at home. I copied this from the menu:

“CHICAGO STYLE” GARBAGE SALAD

Chopped Iceberg Lettuce, Tomato, Artichoke Hearts, Kalamata Olives,

Marinated Mushrooms, Genoa Salami, Cucumber, Sweet Onions, Garbanzo Beans

Not anything amazing, but I enjoyed it!
