About a 30 minute drive. Definitely worth a visit and take in a tour of the dam while you're there.

For a dam tour.

The bypass bridge (free) has nice views of the dam.

2 things.

1)The search button is your friend. Search "Hoover dam". You will get more then enough info.

2)google maps is also your friend.

Btw it's 32.2 miles from the intersection of LVB/flamingo to the middle of the dam.

Just wantto tack onto this question: we are going at end of the month as well, would you guys recommend going under the 100 degree weather or stay at the hotel and visit the dam in a cooler season later on

If you have an option, it would be more pleasant during cooler weather.

If you go this month, go first thing in the morning for slightly cooler temps.

In general go early morning anytime to beat the tour busses.

In cooler temps maybe try hiking the railroad tunnel trail nearby.

Hi

We visit every year, just like to gaze at it! I would highly recomend making sure you have a bottle of water with you, it always seems extreamly hot walking over the dam. There are a couple of fountains on the dam but you will need more imo.
