Must do things for 1st visit

I'm coming to Vegas for three nights at the end of September. What are some must do things? I'm overwhelmed at the vastness if it all...lol. Looking for good food and attractions. Thanks!

My advice would be when you get there just soak it in if you see something interesting do it. Forget what anybody on here tells you, trust me you will see what I mean.

I'm staying at the MGM Grand. I am meeting a group of friends for a wedding. I know that night after we all eat, we are taking a party bus tour of the Strip. My budget is average, I suppose lol. Nothing too fancy and not looking to break the bank. I just don't wan to be there and miss something. I am a go-er on vacation, not a stay-er haha!

Best thing is to walk around and see what interests you. Stop at a bar an chat up some of the people there and ask them what is the most interesting thing they've done this trip. If it sounds good, check it out. Honestly though, the most fun is just walking around and taking advantage of the uniqueness that is Vegas. As Bluto Blutarski would say, 'Don't cost nuthin"..

My feeling that as a first-time visitor, just walking from one end of the strip to another is a major part of the excitement. Go inside of the hotels just to check them out. Get a copy of Vegas magazines and read them from cover to cover to see what's happening in town. Go online right now and read about weather and many other things. Here's the link:

You can spend 2-3 days just walking around and enjoying the sites and checking out the properties. That's half the enjoyment of LV. If something looks fun, check it out, have a beer, keep walking, repeat. Time it so you'll see the Bellagio fountains and Mirage volcano shows at night.

For food, I know you're going into this blind, but there are hundreds of restaurants we could recommend. What's "average budget" for you and what kind of food do you like? That's a different answer for everyone. LV has just about any style of food at just about any price depending on where you want to go and how much you want to pay, so we'll just trying to help narrow it down a bit. It's not a town where there are 2-3 restaurants you "must visit."

Do not pack too many dressy outfits. Keep it comfortable (especially your shoes). The dress is not like you see on TV. Do not over plan your first trip.

Things to see/do on first trip in my opinion to give you a great overview and feel of Vegas:

Bellagio fountains

Good view from either Eiffel Tower, stratosphere, Mix Lounge, Voodoo Lounge etc (research and pick the one that appeals to you the most)

Inside the Bellagio

Inside Caesars palace

Inside cosmopolitan

Inside Caesars forum shops

Inside Venetian

Mirage volcano when erupting

See at least one great show - how about a cirque du soleil show?

Eat at at least one good restaurant - doesn't have to be crazy expensive - could be a great buffet or maybe a celebrity chef, or whatever fits in your budget just do a little research and pick a restaurant that sounds pretty good to you

Do a little gambling

If you want to see a show I would suggest Love which is at the Mirage. We saw it on Thursday and it was brilliant! Breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi looking over the Bellagio fountains is great. As others have said don't plan too much, you will just enjoy the experience!

Look under the "restaurants" heading on trip advisor. select restaurants close to where you will be staying since you won't want to add $70.00 for cabs just to go eat. Plenty of restaurants close to wherever you will be staying. We've been to vegas at least 10 times and still haven't see it all. When we go at the end of September we will be staying one week at Grandview and one week at Tahiti. There are shuttles from Grandview to New York, NY and Mirage. We have planned our meals around where those casinos are - and maybe one away in each direction. Did love Ghiardelli last year and that is definitely on our list. Banana splits for breakfast cover all the food groups. Research trip advisor.
