Hoover dam: walk across the top for the height wary people

If one is a bit uncomfortable with height. What is the walk across the top of Hoover Dam like. Obviously it is very high. Is it wide enough on either side of you to give a sense of security as one walks over to the Arizona side? For example, the Eiffel Tour( the real one in Paris) is high but there is enough surface to walk around on once you are up there so you do not have to be right at the edge. Hoping the same concept applies to the top of the Hoover Dam. Able to look at the view without being right at the edge of a walkway with the giant drop off. Yikes.

I don't like heights and did not have issues at all walking on the dam road.

Hi

On the lake side it is not far down to the water. On the dam side, the middle section is behind a glass screen.

I would not recomend the walk across the bridge (new bypass) if you dont like heights.

It's not too bad. I get vertigo with heights and Hoover does not bother me.

The bypass bridge on the other hand......that's a long way down. You'll see:).

Purple - if that's the case then you don't have vertigo

Vertigo is not a fear of heights. That's acrophobia. And having said that, that is really being picky!!!

Well, it's not as far down as the 35,000 feet when you are flying to Las Vegas.

Wow. Thanks doctors.

I do get vertigo, actually, based on perception of movement. For some reason at height I feel like I'm moving and Iose balance and get dizzy.

Figured this out when I was assigned to work on half dome 2 years ago. I also get it on treadmills; my brain cannot process that I'm running but the environment around is not moving.

The vertigo has caused me to become afraid of heights. But thanks for the diagnoses.
