NY/NY, Monte Carlo or MGM?

SW Vacations has these hotels within a few dollars of each other.

Which would you select? (It would be January, so no need for pool reviews).

SW is offering 2 free buffets per day. We probably wouldn't do two a day but if we were to do maybe one, which hotel has the best buffet? I seem to recall reading on Trip Advisor in the past that when a hotel in the MGM group offers the free buffets, you can go to any of the hotels in that group (because I don't think NY has a buffet, does it? does Monte Carlo?).

NYNY does not have a buffet. NYNY is a more economical property, which I consider two star, and this should be reflected in the rates.

I have MGM ranked above Monte Carlo, but from a personal POV we prefer Monte Carlo. We like the dining options there over MGM, even though MGM has more choices. We like The Pub at MC, and MGM doesn't have anything to compare.

There is a marked difference between the size and atmosphere of these two hotels. MGM is huge and very active and high energy, which some prefer, while Monte Carlo is more subdued which some like, and others find a little boring. I think that is really your biggest choice, which atmosphere suits you best.

MGM is the nicer hotel of the hotels you listed. The Buffett was ok.

We are staying there in Oct. we usually stay there when we visit. there is a food court. I get coffee there every a.m.

Like to eat at Wolfgang Puck's restaurant inside the casino.

Enjoy

Is there still a lot of construction outside of NY/NY? How about Monte Carlo?

Of the three, which has the nicest/most up-dated rooms?

The rooms at MGM were renovated in 2011. Monte Carlo rooms have not been redone for some time. I don't know about NYNY.

Gimmie an M!

Gimmie a G!

Gimmie an M!

What's that spell?

I think the construction between NYNY and MC is still underway

MGM is the better property although some may find it too large. It takes several minutes to walk from the entrance just to the lobby. I would rank Monte Carlo as second.

I've stayed at all three properties and rank them as follows:

MGM

Monte Carlo

NYNY

The rooms at MGM, as others have said, were recently renovated. The rooms at Monte Carlo and NYNY are comparable, bland and in need of minor updates. The rooms are, however, more than acceptable.

There are more dining and nightlife options at MGM and the overall feel of the casino has a lot of energy. It is quite large, but doesn't take long to get used to. There are food courts at all three, which is nice. The casinos at NYNY and Monte Carlo are much smaller than MGM's.

Personally, I enjoyed my stays at all three and don't think you can make a bad decision here.

MGM, especially if you can get a suite, but the rooms are great all the way around.
