I am planning a mother/daughter trip to Las Vegas to celebrate my D's 21st birthday. I've been through the hotels threads for hotel recommendations and have decided to stay mid-strip since this is her first visit and I haven't been there in over 20 years. I started checking rates for Oct 18 - 22nd and was a bit shell shocked. Prices are just high for most of the hotels I checked > $150/night including resort fee with several mid-strip hotels >$200 and $300+ for the weekend nights. I'm guessing there must be a convention that weekend or winter season prices are in effect or I am not looking on the right web site. I typically book directly with the chain, hotel or triple A. I'm not a fan of Priceline, Expedia or Orbitz due to past experience. The travel dates are set in stone - she is a student and it is fall break. My budget is no more than $160 per night, resort fees included. Any suggestions on a nice place we could stay that is within our budget, safe and either on the strip or close to it? I'm willing to try one of the "vegas" websites if it comes recommended by several TA users (I'll run a search for it in TA).
If it helps - we will probably sight see at a lot of the major casino's, hitting the free indoor/outdoor entertainment, shop, see a show or two, hit a country western bar for some dancing, go to a spa, enjoy a couple of nice dinners, take in Fremont street on a weekend night and do some gambling. Thanks for your help!
