2nd time in Vegas....a couple of questions

Hi all,

We are coming back to Vegas in exactly 4 weeks today and can't wait. We are hoping to cram lots into our 4 day trip.

We have booked the Pink Jeep Hoover Dam upgrade tour for the morning after we arrive.

We have booked restaurants for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights but have left our arrival day unbooked in case of flight delays etc. We can easily grab a bite to eat at our hotel, The Aria, or order room service. Meals booked are for Bally's Steakhouse, Gordon Ramsey Pub and Grill and Top of the World. We don't eat lunch in Vegas, we tend to have a buffet breakfast and then not eat until the evening.

My main question is re: Fremont Street. I really wanted to go there for a couple of hours one evening on our last visit but we ran out of time. Therefore, this year I am determined to go. I am a bit concerned though that the Life is Beautiful concert is there on the Saturday and Sunday nights and was wondering if the whole area will be closed to all but ticket holders? Would it be better to go on the Friday evening instead? I would LOVE tickets for the event but at $160 a ticket, I need to be extra nice to hubby over the next few weeks ;-)

There are also loads of hotels we didn't get a chance to wander through last year, including MGM, Planet Hollywood, Bellagio and Wynn. Any others we should see? We went in Luxor, MB, TheHotel, Excalibur, Caesar's and Venetian. We also went in Bill's but have heard it's now closed. Is the new Quad worth a wander through?

Lastly, for now, is getting a taxi from the airport stressful or is it fairly straightforward? We had a limo last time so didn't experience it. Is the route you ask for (to the Aria) Swenson onto Harmon (that's how it looks to me on the map) and no tunnel?

Thanks and sorry if these are previously asked questions and if it's a bit long winded.

Wow - a whrilwind trip indeed!

Cab is no problem just at busy times there is a queue - have you considered renting a car so you can get around a bit too? There are loads of posts on here about the route but seems if you do get long hauled it will only be an extra $10.

Anyway you must see Bellagio for fountains, Wynn is cool too.

Sorry can't answer your main question about Freemont St!!

Gemma, those are the route directions that I would use to get to Aria. The cab lines are organized and there is an attendant to direct you to the next available taxi.

Yes, I would avoid downtown on Friday/Saturday--Sunday would be great. It is mellow during the day & fairly crazy at night, even Sundays, so depends what you are looking for as to when you go. I do recommend a trip. An idea--change your Sunday reservations to the Flame at El Cortez downtown, and spend the day & evening there & have a fantastic well priced meal in an old Vegas setting.

Do try to see all those places you haven't seen & would like to, but if you don't, go with it--over 50 trips under our belt & we are still amazed at casinos we have never set foot into (Strat, Hooters) & the nearby sites we have always meant to visit but haven't.

I recommend hitting the north strip casinos you haven't visited one day, south casinos the next.

We ALWAYS cab it--no stress at all. If you confidently give them the route of choice (which you have correct), it will be stress free.

Fremont/LiB - I'd imagine downtown will be pretty crazy on the 26 & 27th. The festival itself is all to the south east of the Fremont Experience area. Basically the borders are LVB to 11th St. east to west (more or less) and Stewart to Bridger north to south (there are a couple of dents in that rectangle). We'll be in town starting the 27th and I'm honestly tempted to head to Fremont just for the people watching.

Quad - I wouldn't go out of my way but if you're walking by, sure, stop in. Some of the "dealer-tainers" are really very good. The adjacent Carnival Court has been buffed up nicely and all those miserable sales kiosks are gone (or were when we were there in May).

Thanks for your replies. I will take your advice PhilyWill and avoid the Saturday and Sunday - although I'm still tempted as I love a bit of people watching too.

Another quick question, best place (cheapest) to buy bottled water in or near The Aria?

Also, where is the Pink Jeep pink up point in The Aria? Our confirmation says we'll be met at the Lower Tour Lobby. I can't see this on a floor plan of the hotel!

Thanks again
