Petrossian Bar Afternoon Tea

We've walked by the Petrossian bar many times and listened to the piano music, but were thinking about doing the afternoon tea this visit. Seems like it might be a relaxing way to spend a few hours in the afternoon. Has anyone tried it? What did you think? Do you need reservations?

I was thinking about doing the same thing for my birthday, as a special treat.

Hope someone that has been before answers your post. I would like the same feedback.

After I posed the question I found some reviews which sounded good for the most part, but I'm still interested in what folks here have to say. Hardest part will be deciding when to do it in advance since it sounds like if you don't have a reservation the odds of getting a table are slim.

Yes, I also read that you must make a reservation. I guess so they know how many tea sandwiches to make and scones. Sounds like a grown up tea party. What all little girls play with their dolls.

Myself, two girlfriends, and my two daughters went during our July visit. We loved the whole experience and will be going again in November. I called a few weeks ahead of time to set it up and wound up changing the time twice. They were very accommodating.

There were many varieties of tea and I believe you could order cocktails if desired. These drinks were not included in the tea price. We chose four sandwiches each (finger sandwiches) and then the chef decided on your two scones and four mini desserts. Everything was delicious.

I would highly recommend it, but I have also heard that High Tea at the Mandarin Oriental is also very, very good. You may want to check into that option. Whichever you decide - I know you will enjoy the whole experience. We stayed a couple of hours.

I really enjoyed High Tea when we went. We had a voucher for a free High Tea, but I will be returning and will no issues paying for it. Be sure to make a reservation as they do get very busy on some days.

Betty & Cmr--

Thanks so much for your feedback. That's good info on what exactly they serve at the tea,and I did see on the website if you wanted champagne it was $13 extra per person. I wonder if that $13 is for a single glass or refillable like when you do a champagne brunch. I suppose I will have to ask about that if/when I make the reservation.

I also like hearing that the food was good. Would you say it was very filling? I saw a few reviews where people had food boxed to take with them, but I wondered since finger sandwiches are pretty small... Maybe the scones put them over the top.Interesting that the chef chooses the scones for you.

Thanks for your help.

I enjoyed it very much - which is saying a lot as I was sick nearly all of the trip. It was just so relaxing. I went for the earliest seating which I think was 1pm. Since it was so early it just became my lunch for that day. I would not hesitate to go back again.

With my group, we ate all the sandwiches and scones - so good, but left a few of the desserts. We were full but not stuffed by any means. We went at 3:00 and didn't eat again until after 10:00 pm or so. Like I said previously, will be doing this again in November - but with the champagne this time. Thanks for the price on that.

Yes, it's a great afternoon tea. It has the edge over some of the others in Vegas for me as you get to choose your sandwich fillings - great for a fussy eater like me. The scones are out of this world, the best I have had anywhere (I love a good fruit scone).

The only downside for me is that you are very close to the casino and are 'on show' to all the passers by. It also makes it a bit noisy. For a peaceful afternoon tea in Vegas, Verandah is better.

And yes, you do need to book in advance.

I had afternoon tea at the Petrossian after my morning wedding this past June. It was lovely and relaxing after running around the Strip taking pictures for several hours. The tea was of excellent quality and the sandwiches and pastries were very tasty. I highly recommend the experience. It was also enough food to qualify as lunch for DH and I.
