T/R Las Vegas Adventure 9/21 - 10/1

My trip report is a long one due to being in Vegas for 10 days, I will post it as replies and broken down by day.

This will include details about what I did as well as the meet & Greet that I had planned with another member on here. I hope that this Trip Report will help & even maybe entertain the members that are getting ready to head to Vegas.

Saturday 9/21-----> The alarm goes off at 6:30am & without hesitation I get out of bed excited, just like a kid on christmas day. We had to packed everything the night before so all we had to do was just get ready & lock up the house. My g/f & myself get in the car due to us having a 2 hour drive to the airport to catch out flight @ 11:55am.

Once we get to the airport we head to confirm our seat with the airline, as my g/f & myself walk to the airline counter a lady comes rushing up to the ticket counter agent besides us & we think nothing of it, the ticket agent states to the lady " you better hurry, your flight leaves in 4 mins". We look at each other and our glad that is not our situation. After confirming our flight with the ticket agent, we start looking for something to eat due to not having breakfast yet. Mc D's is our only breakfast option & I must say the cost of it was expensive due to being in an airport but expected.

Go through TSA & the normal routine is blah blah blah......going through TSA made me feel like we were all headed for boot camp or something. Got to the terminal and at this point its around 10 ish we sit at the gate and talk about what we would like to do while in Vegas. It seemed like time slowed down dramatically at this point, our flight boards & we our off. We have a lay over @ dallas airport for an 1hr or so, then we board and fly out to our final destination "Sin City"

My g/f and I arrive at baggage claim & waited for an hour for our baggage, we head to the taxi stand outside of the airport. There is a big line @ the taxi stand but surprisingly enough we go through it pretty fast. Just for the sake of this T/R I will refer to my g/f as M. We get into the taxi cab & he asks us where we are going, I give him the name of the hotel. The cabbie caught me off guard asking do you want the highway or the back rds? without hesitation I let the cabbie know I want the fastest back rd to the hotel.

M and myself get dropped off and the cost is $21.00, we provide the drive with payment & tip and thank him. Upon arrival the Flamingo registration desk is packed but thankfully for us we get to use the total rewards member line & get to the check in agent within 10 mins. M's parents are check in later that night around 7pm and its their 40th anniversary, we ask to see if we could get their room upgraded but the check in agent refuses, replies with for a cost we can upgrade their room. We decline and check in by this time its 4pm Vegas time & M has a concert to attend too by 7pm. M & myself head to the room and first thing we notice is the construction site that is right outside our window. The construction site is where the old Bill's casino was and is being rebuild as a new casino called "ganesvoort". This point we don't think anything of it but more to come about this.

We unpack our stuff and grab a taxi & head down to freemont st, once we get to freemont st M is quickly in line for her concert and I decided to stay close by and go to the EL Cortez. Let me say that when I walked into the El Cortez I feel like I was teleported back to the 50's, slot machines were dispensing actual nickles and dime :0. I had seen on here posted by another member that there was $2-$3 blackjack tables, I looked through every table and only found a double deck $5 table that pays 3-2. I decided to play at this table with only $20 and after a few hours walked away with $150, what a great start to my Vegas adventure. M gets done with the concert around 10:30pm and by this point we are exhausted being awake since 6:30am eastern we head back to the Flamingo. Straight to the room M & myself attempt to get some shut eye, right before bed we notice the construction is loud and keeps us awake for most part of the night.

Sunday 9/22---->>>> I get woken up by M @ 6:30am she only slept a few hours & is not happy about the construction keeping her awake. We give a call to M's parents room to see where breakfast was gonna take place, they informed us to meet them @ the cafe downstairs called the Tropical Breeze. Nothing to report about the breakfast but got to put points on my total rewards member card.

We split up & M's parents and M decided to hit the slot machines.....i'm not a slot machine player what so ever so I decided to check out the tables. Played some blackjack $5 min until about noon, M showed up to let me know that they were wanting to check the Quad (old IP). I leave the table breaking even from where I started and off to the Quad we go.

I must say that the last time I saw the Quad (old IP) it was under construction. As we walk into the Quad we notice the change & start to walk around the property, since the reno/construction is not over some of the casino still has boarded sections in the main lobby. We also notice that when you head back towards the elevators that the old IP walls and design are still apparent. M and myself see the dealer-tainer table pit and sit & play blackjack & I'm up $50.

Stomach is growling and we decided to have lunch cheap, we head to Casino royal & see that they have a subway and foot long hotdogs for cheap. You guess it.......thats what we had to for lunch. I noticed as we walked out of the Casino that their is something called free bet blackjack, more on this in the future. I decide to sit at a regular blackjack table & of course the drinking starts, I can't really account for the next few hours lol but all i remember is dinner.

We had dinner @ Margaritaville & I am starving, I decided to order a couple of margaritas & of course the family does as well :) Vegas so far is well off.

The rest of the night goes uneventful with drinking and hitting the strip just to see if anything new has shown up. M & myself call it a night around 2 am, upon arriving in our room M and myself are upset to find construction going on and loud.

Good start so far except for the hour you waited for your baggage? what happened? that's pretty extreme.

outlaw1865 I dont know why it took so long, all I know is that when we got off the plane we were told carousel 3 and waiting an hour to see the carousel stop and see the one next to it start to have baggage just come out and see my bags. poor communication if you ask me.
