Anyone been to The Downtown Grand Casino?

I was just wondering if they were offering any sign up bonuses with their players card? I will be there in December and will go regardless.

Prolly not for awhile. Don't need to, it's new so everyone will flock there to check it out. Give it a few months and they will prolly have a bonus.

Interestingly enough, initial reports are that is very NOT busy. You shouldn't have to struggle with crowds at all.

People seem to huddle under the canopy downtown for whatever reason. The Plaza (like DTG) is just outside of the Canopy but is always noticeably less crowded despite being newly renovated.

You can be shoulder to shoulder under the light show yet the walk to Main Street Station and California is usually deserted.

where is this from Fremont Street? I know Main Street Station is a bit off Fremont, is the Grand near there?

Went last night. They gave $3 freeplay for signing up. whoohoo! I kept thinking about the first time I went to Lady Luck they gave me a free hot dog and a beer -that was much better. Would not match player status.

Was not busy. Seemed like a nice enough place with all new slot machines. Casino is a big square with a nice square bar in the middle. But no wow factor and the place didn't really leave an impression on me - probably won't go out of my way to go there. Not sure who they will appeal to. Hopefully more than just people wandering through to the Mob Museum.

So was the $3 free play a spin or something? Or is that the standard amount that should entice me to make my way from my suite at FourQueens next month?

Noncompetitive odds for downtown, just like Plaza.....explains empty casino. Just can't get people to leave good gaming under the canopy regardless of how nice the property may be.....

Supposedly you can get "up to" $1000 freeplay. They give you your card - then you have to take it to a machine and make your first bet - then you are awarded your freeplay - for both of us it was $3 - and I'd wager that is what it will be for most.

The $3 in free play reminds me of the Mesquite casino we stopped by while driving to Utah. They had huge signs that if you sign up for their palyers club you could win up to $1 million! I had to check this out and it turned out all I got was $3 in free play and told to play max bet at their $1 machine. LOL - at least their marketing department did a better job then the Grand as it got me off the highway.

$3.00 is almost an insult. If they want any business at least go for $10.00 to start. I am staying in Feb and look forward to the rooms, and maybe a slot tournament but there are tons of places to go where it is busy and not dead.
