Help me decide, first trip to vegas

Ex-DH and I are mid 40s (although he still thinks he is mid-20s in his head) and going on our very first trip to Vegas in March (may go back in the fall to get remarried to each other on the same day as our first anniversary, long story). We are not rich by any means and are trying to do the best we can with our travel and lodging budget so we have enough gambling/fun money while in Vegas to enjoy ourselves gambling, dining, etc. Have a marquis suite booked at NY NY for $85 a night. Is this a good deal? Should we stick with it or down grade to a regular room at different hotel? Pool isn't a big deciding factor due to the time of the year and we probably wouldn't spend much time at the pool anyway.

NYNY is a very manageable property, especially for a first visit. Several affordable dining choices there, and an easy walk to other great properties like MGM, Cosmo, Aria, and Bellagio. Have a great time and don't overplan or second guess yourself!

We are a couple in our 40's and loved our trip to NYNY in May....It had a good vibe, restaurants are affordable, staff were friendly, received a complimentary room upgrade. I would go back in a minute....have fun!

I third what was already said. :)

Also there is a CVS next door so you can stock up on some snacks to help save $$.

Thank you, I feel so much better. We never take vacations alone and usually vacation in our modest RV with the kids, so this is our first real vacation together after being married for 23 years (and divorced, and maybe remarried again, we'll see). I did rent a cabin in the Grand Canyon at Bright Angel Lodge, I am sure we will love it. We'd just like to have enough money to do, eat, etc., whatever we feel like when we feel like for a change and don't want to blow our whole budget on lodging but at the same time don't want to just stay in the usual basic hotel room. I thought NY NY sounded perfect for us, until I started researching, then I got completely confused, LOL :)

Stayed at NYNY on Tuesday (Nov.19) in a remodelled Madison Ave premium view room (2934) and it was great. Terrific view, clean and comfy beds.

Got a great deal on smartervegas.com as well.

The resort was clean and easy to navigate, and the staff were pleasant and helpful.

We only ate at the breakfast buffet at Chin Chin and it was good (just a bit pricey at 15/pp).

Didn't use the pool at this time of year...

There is construction out front, and the roller coaster/strip noise can be bothersome so I would recommend getting a room high up.

Have fun.

NYNY is nice, from a price side i would keep checking through the website in the event the price comes down and you can rebook. I personally wouldnt pay for a suite at NYNY, i would stay at a standard room and use the extra money in your budget on a show, i highly recommend including a show in your stay, at NYNY Zumanity is alot of fun, its a bit edgy and not for everyone, Carrot Top at the Luxor is very reasonably priced from a Vegas side and is consistantly good.

Have a great time! I'll let others give input on staying at NYNY but it is a fun property to visit, good location, and sounds like you got a good price.

I have never stayed in the rooms at NYNY, but love to hang out there....the casino is a happening, exciting place! Also, they have the dueling piano bar which is great fun and a few other places I am going to try out this trip like Nine Fine Irishmen....I like to stay at the MGM but I always come across the bridge to have a fun evening at NYNY.
