Vegas Plans....Visit "new" casinos?

I am working on my plans for my solo trip next month, and pretty much have all but my last day planned. I was thinking maybe I should visit some casinos that I have never visited before, just to make it a bit interesting. I will have most of the day to explore (need to be to the rental car center by 4:30pm to drop off my car), so I started looking at which casinos I have never been to. From a blackjack player's perspective, which of these casinos (if any) would be worth a visit:

Hooters

Terribles (or whatever it is called now)

Ellis Island

Tuscany

Westin Casuarina

Casino Royale

Harrahs

Stratosphere

Riviera

LVH

El Cortez

Main Street Station

California

Golden Gate

Las Vegas Club

Downtown Grand

Terribles and westin for blackjack.

They both have double deck, double after split, double any first two cards and pay 3/2.

Ellis island for a nice beer on your way back to the airport. If you drink that is. I don't, so I like to encourage others to have one for me. :)

El Cortez still has the best blackjack game in Vegas.

I find it strange that someone with all of your Las Vegas experience has not been to those places. Just visit as many of them as you can and cross them off your list.

It depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a low house edge game , El Cortez is a must. It's smoky and not for everyone, but they do deal good games at low minimums. From a selfish standpoint, I'd like you to visit the Downtown Grand and verify the rules. The subscription services and player reviews don't match up. If you're looking for future comps, I'd play some at Stratosphere. They deal decent games at Strat and it's easy to earn future offers. Have fun my friend !

Have you hit Bighorn and Longhorn (one is in North Vegas, the other on Boulder Highway near Sams Town)? The have $2 shoe game that pay 3:2 and allow you to double after your 3rd card. If you are looking for "new" places to try BJ and have not played at either of these, it may be worth a quick visit.

That said, El Cortez has a great single deck game and a pretty good double deck game. Golden Gate has OK shoe games that pay 3:2 with scantily clad dealers (if you are into that). Though MSS does not allow DAS on their double deck games, I still enjoy playing there.

Rhino, when are you planning on being in Vegas next month? The wife and I will be there Dec 16-22 as our 18 year old's Junior Hockey league has their annual showcase in Vegas every December.

El Cortez for the blackjack. I'll be there several hours during my December trip.

I'll probably also give Downtown Grand a try, if only to see what the rules are.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I think I will check out the El Cortez. It has been on my list for a long time, but have never gotten over there.

Darren.....I pass right by the Downtown Grand on my way back to the freeway, so maybe I will pop in there and check it out. I will be sure to include this in my TR when I return.

16gauge.....I will be in Vegas Dec. 13-16. What time do you get in on the 16th?

vegasjester.....what are the dates for your trip in Dec?

I believe our flight arrives at 2:30pm. After getting our rental car, we will need to make the ExCal our first stop as we have MyVegas Tournament of Kings tickets for that evening we need to pick up by 4pm. Then, off to Flamingo to check in, then back to ExCal for the 6pm dinner show. Looks like timing will not be good to for a meet & greet. I'll probably be leaving the car rental facility about the same time you are getting ready to pull in.

If you enjoy good beer and pizza, check out the Pizza Rock that recently opened. I was there at the end of October. Good pizza and a very good draft beer selection. Price is not cheap, but was a good value to me. Pizza Rock is on the corner to the same building that houses Hogs and Heffers and Triple George Grill.
