The worst that could happen would be rain. It's an easy fairly quick trip from the strip. Maybe 30 minutes depending on traffic. It's a good well traveled road getting there, there are no mountain passes. You'll go through the small town of Boulder, there's some cute diners and small shops there you may want to set aside some time for.

Agreed it is very unlikely - but those that say it isn't possible weren't driving out there in 2008 when

"As much as 8 inches of snow fell in parts of the valley . . ."

if a freak storm does happen - it is best to avoid as people here have no clue how to drive in it - they are bad enough when it rains - so forget about it in snow.

Probably not. Las Vegas and Hoover Dam are at a relatively low elevation. If you attempt to go up into the mountains, then you might need snow tires. We don't usually find that likely, though, unless we go somewhere like Bryce Canyon in the winter months. You should be fine around Vegas.

Snow is rare. In 2009 however we had 6 inches and it accumulated all along 93.

To put it in perspective that snow that accumulated was one of the only times in a hundred years that snow has stuck for more than just a couple of hours, so the chances you would ever need chains are pretty close to zero between the Strip and the Dam.
